Jade's POV:

I have no idea what the speed limit is, but I am for sure crossing it. Every five seconds, I glance behind me to see the blonde still lying there unconsciously. I don't know if she is even still breathing. All I know is that I need to get her to a hospital.

I don't mind finding a parking spot and instead just stop the car in front of the entrance. Some people give me weird looks as I jump out of the car, but come help me once they see the blonde lying unresponsive in my backseat.

A tall man from about our age helps me carry Perrie inside. The second the staff spots us, nurses are rushing to our side.

"What happened to her?" One of the nurses asks me while the others put the blonde on a stretcher and start examining her.

"I-I don't know. She was stumbling and seconds later, she was unconscious." My voice shakes as I speak and my eyes never leave the blonde.

A nurse pulls Perrie's eyes open and shines her light into them. She looks at another nurse and when this one nods, confirming her thoughts, she yells.

"She's overdosing!"

My eyes widen at her words. Perrie is getting carried away and I want to follow her, but my feet don't move. I am frozen to my spot.

The nurse that asked me what happened walks me to one of the chairs in the waiting area and sits me down. "We are going to run some tests on her before getting back to you, okay?"

I just nod, staring blankly ahead. How did this happen?

What if I lose her? I really can't lose her.

My mind runs over the last few weeks, trying to find anything that would indicate her not being sober. She did vomit, but she was perfectly fine after, so I didn't question it back then.

The stumbling should have given her away, though.

I'm lost in my thoughts, trying to figure out when this all started when the nurse returns to me. I barely notice her walking up to me until she starts speaking.

"Miss, can you come with me?" I stand up and follow the nurse into the corridors of the hospital. If you asked me to walk back to where I came from, I wouldn't be able to do it. My whole body is just numb and I have no clue what is happening around me.

The nurse stops in front of a door and turns around to face me. "There was a high dosage of cocaine and alcohol in her blood, but you brought her here fast, so chances are high she'll pull through."

I take a minute to process the information. "Perrie didn't seem drunk," I mumble under my breath. I had seen my fair share of drunk Perrie, so I would be able to recognize it, right?

"That's normal. The use of cocaine diminishes the effect of alcohol, so even though your friend drank a lot, she didn't feel it." The nurse explains patiently.

"I still have a few more questions before you can go in and see your friend. Is that okay?" My eyes meet hers for the first time and she seems genuinely worried. I nod my head, trying to focus on the nurse and not on my thoughts.

"Did you notice any change in her behaviour? Was she suddenly more excited or happy?"

I nod my head again.

"When did this start?"

"About two or three weeks ago," I mumble while looking at the ground.

The nurse scribbles something down on a paper before asking her next question. "Was she eating less those last weeks?"
