"what did that idiot write in those letters? i swear to god, when wakasa turned 16, he bawled his eyes out after reading it, now you?" the older woman mumbles angrily as her daughter returns to the car with puffy eyes and read cheeks, causes by tears. hoshiko smiles weakly and sniffles.

"nothing." she lies. "just told me how much he loves me."

"really? damn. he must have gotten good with his words in the end. i swear to god, his pick-up lines used to suck!" hoshiko smiles weakly and chuckles, trying to keep her composure in front of the woman.

"anyway, now, for my present." she says and takes out something from a bag. she smiles and walks closer to her daughter.
"open it, open it!"

she opens the box and blinks a couple of time. "you got me...paper?"

"no! read it!" she scans the words and freezes up.

"...what?"

"surprise!"

"you're giving this house...to me?"

"yup!"

"why? i'm sixteen."

"hm...i'm not giving you the house so you could move out of the apartment or sell it for money. rather than the house, i want you to have the memories inside of it. when we moved out, i left a lot of valuables there. your father's stuff, pictures, our vinyl collection... i always hoped...that giving you this house would make you understand your father more. you never met him, after all. all of his hobbies, his interests and a lot of his personality is still there!" and there she goes, tearing up again...

"thank you..."

"ah! don't cry! you'll make me cry!" the older woman smiles sadly, tearing up herself. "look after our precious memories for me, will you?"

"yes..."

her evening with the house didn't end yet. after driving her mother home and helping her bring all of the stuff she bought inside, she drove back to the apartment and got some cleaning stuff. then, she stopped at the store and bought some stuff as well.

returning to the house, she felt a bit different. she was now the owner of this place. and she already had ideas on how she should renovate some places. of course, nothing too much. she just wanted to bring the rooms to life.

she now had a hideout of her own. a place where she could come to when she wanted to be alone. and she'll definitely revive the garage. she can already see her own babies standing beside her dad's beasts.
