The pounding and ringing in my ears and head wakes me up from the strong sleep. I look around as I rub my sleepy eyes and gasp as I see Nate's shirtless back. I cautiously look down at my body and notice the non-existent clothing, fuck! As worry overcomes my body I jump into the shower and let the warm water wash over my body. With all the confusion running through my body I scrub my skin, turning it to a dark shade of red. The steam fogs the mirror as I step out of the shower and dry myself. Glancing nervously at the time, I change into a pair of shorts and a sweater, grab my purse and head down to my car. The fact that I couldn't remember anything from the previous night terrified me. All I knew was that I had to get away, it may make me seem like a child or an idiot but the thoughts were too much, especially if they were true.
After finally finding a small parking space in the complex, I get out of my car and walk into the lobby. No one was around except for one or two people just reading the paper or something, making me think of classic movies. I walk up to the counter and smile at the old lady, probably in her fifty's
"Hey how much for a room for one?" I ask politely
"How long are you staying sweetie?" she ask with a southern accent
"Around a week" I reply, thinking of how long everything would take
"And how many were you looking to accommodate for?" she tries again, ferociously typing on the old computer
"Just the one please" I reply politely and she gives me a pitying look, as though I was an abused child
"We can supply you in the Queen Bed room. Now that includes one queen bed, free breakfast, free wifi, coffee facilities in the room and no smoking allowed" I nod, taking in the information
"How much would that be sorry?"
"For the week the total of that room would come to $235.72, is that okay?"
"Yea, that would be perfect. Um... if anyone asks if I'm staying here can you say that I'm not?"
"Your secrets safe sweetie" I smile at her, thankful that she won't tell. I pay for the room and she hands me the key card to the room. The feeling that the motel gives me, gives me the thought that she would have done this more than once as it seems to be the type of place that you go to when you are trying to hide.
The small room is cosy and a typical run down hotel expectation, but I like it. I pull out my phone from my back pocket and disable all of my social media accounts. Wishing for a change, I open the safari app and search flight prices for the upcoming week from Omaha to LA. Once I find one I book a ticket and turn my phone off. As I sit on the soft bed, I glance up at the mirror and think of ways that I could change. The pounding of my feet against the floor adds more and more thoughts to my eager mind and I jump in my car before eagerly heading to the nearest mall. After slotting my car into one of the many small spaces, I run inside and straight to the hairdressers.
"What do you need today hun?" Rickey asks me as I sit in the familiar leather chairs
"A change" and with that his eyes light up and he immediately begins his work.
After what feels like hours of silence he finally speaks "Are you ready to see?" I can see the happiness in his eyes and know for a fact that he enjoyed this. I nod and he instantly swivels the chair to face the mirrors. Instead of my dark brown hair that fell straight down my back almost reaching my ass, it was now a dark sapphire blue at my roots, falling into a soft aqua ombré type style. I smile happily as I touch the silky curls
"Nails?" Rickey asks clapping excitedly, and I nod happy with excitement. He hurriedly ushers me to one of the nail booth type set ups, making me giggle as he taps my ass to make me move faster.
