My phone buzzes repeatedly and I lean over to grab it from underneath my pillow. As my eyes can’t adjust to the brightness I look away and slide my thumb across the screen to answer the call
“Hello?” I mumble sleepily
“Deci? I really need your help. I can’t find Skylynn, anywhere! I really need your help. Mums gonna kill me, I can’t find her anywhere. She’s been gone for about an hour, I’ve looked everywhere” he mumbles, repeating the same thing continuously
“Ye, um, I’ll get on a plane as soon as I can. Just hold out for a couple of hours and Cay and I will come help, just think of places she could be and stay at home, she might come back”
“Thanks, see you soon” he mutters out of breath. After ending the call I search for the next flight to LA and quickly book two tickets. Hurrying after realising I have half an hour until I need to be in the airport, I throw everything of mine into a suitcase and do the same for Cayden as I call a taxi to come and pick me up. The motionless bus is empty and I go outside to see all of the boys playing basketball.
“Cayden come here!” I shout over all the noise. He runs over to me almost falling as he reaches me, my arms breaking his fall “Go say goodbye to Uncle Sammy and Uncle Jack’s and Pa” he runs over to them and gives them each a hug, returning with a shirtless and sweaty Nate, which I find REALLY attractive but now is not the time
“Where are you going Lil Mamma” he asks wiping his fore head breathlessly “Is it something I did?” he asks worriedly
“No you didn’t do anything. Skylynn went missing and Nash can’t find her, so I need to help”
“He can ask someone else” Nate answers angrily
“No. I am going to help. I’ll see you when the tour ends. Love you” I kiss his cheek softly and swoop Cayden up in my arms, walking towards the taxi that just pulled up. Cayden sits in the back patiently as I put everything in the boot.
Cayden holds onto my hand tightly as we walk towards the luggage terminal where we spot a very anxious and nervous looking Nash
“Oh my god you’re here. Okay I have all your stuff in the car, where is she?” he rushes
“Go to my place” he tilts his head confused but places Cayden on his hip as we quickly walk towards his car. We get into the car and all sit nervously, not saying a word, too scared to speak as we drive to Cayden and I’s house. Nash pulls up out the front of our house, and sits frozen in the driver’s seat, too scared to move. Taking matters into my own hands, I jump out of the car and run to the front door, jamming the keys into the small slot. I turn the door knob hurriedly and run throughout the house calling her name, no answer. With my brain finally springing into action, I run out to my back yard and run to the tallest tree. I immediately latch onto the first branch, not checking how sturdy it is in the rush of the moment, I pull myself up grabbing onto each branch as I pass the next. I finally pull my body up the last branch and into the small wooden treehouse
“Deci?” A weak voice asks
“Skylynn! Oh thank God! Never do that again, promise?” she nods her little head and I hug her tightly, relieved that we found her “We need to go tell Nash okay?” she nods her head and follows me down the tree, until we reach the bottom
Nash and Skylynn settle down for the night and both of the kids, not including Nash, settle into their beds.
“I’m sorry” Nash whispers as we watch Pretty Little Liars
“Don’t be. Even if you didn’t want me to come try and stop me” he laughs “It’s the damn ‘motherly’ instincts” I tell him with air quotes, making him chuckle, like, does he not realise I am completely serious
“What’s with you and Nate?” he asks, reaching for the popcorn
“Um… well we are going to try it all again, because I figure that Cayden needs a dad and so I’m not going to be the one to deprive him of that. Because anything that has to do with Cayden I put his opinion or thoughts first because he gets stuck with it longer than I do” he smiles at me “What?”
“Nothing. It’s just funny how much you’ve changed” he teases smirking
“Yep and you’re still and asshole”
“Point taken” as the next episode of the marathon begins to play my eyelids become overtaken by a sudden weight, forcing me into a deep sleep.
