Alex, Natalie, and Zain walked through the woods wet and cold. Things appeared to be nothing but just a relaxing walk. It was very calm yet also terrifying; terrifying enough to not know what to expect.
None of them said a word to each other. Alex may be glad that Zain is with him in this tournament, but Zain wasn't.
Zain still feels troubled over his situation with Alex. Zain couldn't speak to him at all. He honestly felt conflicted about how he feels about Alex now. Alex and Zain have avoided the conversation; they just assumed it all was over.
Zain felt like a coward; Alex felt like he was pressurized to be brave; brave enough to sacrifice mending his friendship with Zain. They were both beating themselves up. There seemed to be no way out of this. They both simply did not know what to do.
Natalie felt put in the middle and doesn't know what to do; for she knows she doesn't want to step on any toes. She hated seeing Alex and Zain like this. She was so confused; especially since she has no experience in the friendship field. She wished she could help them make amends; but she was smart enough to know that stepping in would make things worse.
As they walked across the forest, they came across a platform filled with airships. They stared at them with curiosity; interested to learn what the next task would be, knowing that it's obviously going to take to the sky.
They heard the sound of panting behind them. It was Lucas.
"Lucas!" Natalie exclaimed with shock, "I didn't think you would get this far."
"I didn't think you would get this far too sis."
"Seriously Lucas, how did you really survive this far?" Alex crossed his arms, "Surely you can't survive a Flather or giant spider to get through here."
"Says the guy who clearly couldn't do it alone," Lucas remarked.
Alex tried to give a punch. Natalie stopped him.
"Where are Chuck and Kahn?" Zain asked calmly, "Weren't you with them throughout this whole thing?"
Lucas sighed, "Okay fine. During the Flather attack, Kahn betrayed us. Chuck got killed in the end. He is somewhere out there; but I had no choice but to come all the way here by myself. I have amazing friends don't I." Lucas rolled his eyes.
"I'm sorry Lucas," Natalie couldn't be angry at Lucas anymore. She was tired of feeling sorry for herself and actually should realize that she should pity him just as much as herself. "You thought they were your friends. I don't know about Chuck but you don't have to be alone; especially not in this." Lucas looked into her honest eyes. "I was so selfish to think as if I was going through something and you weren't. I wasn't a sister to you all because I forgot what it is like to not be alone. I'm the one who made myself alone, and I was clearly too scared to face it myself. I made you go through the same shit that I was going through and it was unfair to place that pain on you. I'm sorry Lucas. Can you forgive me?"
Lucas stuttered; struggling to find the right words. He can't remember the last time he received an apology from anyone; not even sincerity.
Kahn was behind them.
"You son of a bitch!" Alex paced and took his sword from the scabbard on his back. Natalie tried to stop him; Alex resisted. "How could you?! Lucas was your friend until you betrayed him just to save your sorry goddam ass! Well, let's see if you can save it this time!"
Alex and Kahn's blades were held together.
"Says the guy who was beating him up in front of the entire camp!" Kahn replied.
Alex fell to the ground.
"What makes you think you can win this when your head can't even stay far from the ground?" Kahn ran and took a jet.
Everyone ran to avoid the blast off.
Kahn took off and blasted his way into first place.
"Lucas! Join me!" Natalie begged, "Will you fly with me?"
Lucas took a moment to think whilst Natalie was holding her hand out. He took her hand and said, "Let's do this thing!"
