"Wait here, I'm going to check who it is," Dylan said, as he made his way to the door.
I followed after him, feeling nervous about the person at the door.
"Do you think that's them already?" I asked nervously.
Dylan laughed, and shook his head.
"No. They were going to wait until I got to where they are, before entering my land," Dylan stated.
Dylan quickly opened the door and in walked Jace, along with three other guys I didn't know.
"Alphas," the three guys said, almost simultaneously.
"Dylan, Leila," Jace said, looking between Dylan and me.
"What happened?" Dylan asked, keeping his eyes on Jace. Jace had been looking at me, but quickly resumed his Beta role and started talking to Dylan.
"Nicolas is here. He came along with Jackson and his Beta," Jace informed Dylan.
"Nicolas' Beta?" I asked, getting into the conversation. All the guys, including Dylan, stared at me as I asked that.
"No, the Beta from Jackson's pack," Jace finished saying. My heart felt like it stopped beating for a moment.
My dad was here. My dad was here with Alpha Nicolas. I felt even more scared. My vision started getting blurry as my eyes got glassy and tears were threatening to spill.
I turned on my heels, and left them talking. I headed toward the games room. It was probably the darkest room in the house and it made me feel comfortable. The coolness of the room was making it easier to breath.
I wanted to cry so hard, my chest hurt from holding it in. The sobs wanted to escape my body, but I wasn't letting them out.
I hadn't seen my dad since I ran away. I was always close to my mom. She was a kind woman with a great heart, but she was weak. Everything I learned, I learned from my father and spending countless hours following him around.
The day my dad agreed to the arranged marriage was the first time I felt betrayed and disappointed by him. He thought he was doing something great for me. Alpha Nicolas would raise my status and our pups would be strong.
The blood of an Alpha with the blood of a Beta would surely form a strong bond, and it was rarely seen. He saw no fault in his decision of agreeing with Alpha Jackson to forcefully marry me with Alpha Nicolas.
I never complained, so how would he know that my heart was breaking inwardly?
I hadn't noticed I was sobbing until Dylan entered the room.
"Leila, what happened? What's wrong?" Dylan's voice echoed through my ears.
I finally escaped my thoughts and noticed Dylan kneeling in front of me, one of his hands on my waist as the other wrapped around my neck.
"Please tell me what's wrong," he pleaded, sounding hurt.
"Don't let him in," I told Dylan, sobs escaping my body as I wrapped my arms tightly around his neck.
"Please don't let Alpha Nicolas into your land," I told Dylan.
"What? Why?" Dylan asked me, sounding completely shocked.
"It's just, that's what I was going to tell you before."
"That you don't want him here?" Dylan asked.
"No, I don't. I don't want him near me," I told Dylan. My words were muffled by his neck, but he seemed to have understood what I said.
"Why? What did he do to you?" Dylan asked, pulling away from me and looking at me with a serious expression.
"He didn't do anything, but," I started to say, not being able to finish my sentence.
"But what? Tell me. Anything, even if it's small, I want to know," Dylan said, now sitting down on the couch with me.
"Do you remember that time we met? How I was basically a Rogue and well Jace wanted me to join your pack?" I asked, my voice still sounding shaky.
"What about it?"
"I had just run away from my pack. I hadn't really been a Rogue for long before I accidentally landed here," I confessed.
"You ran away from your pack?" Dylan asked me, raising his eye brow.
I nodded my head, feeling my heart beat pick up.
"That's why you're scared? Was Nicolas your Alpha? The one you ran away from?" Dylan asked, looking expectant of my answer.
I remained silent, staring at Dylan and hoping he'd understand.
"You shouldn't be scared Leila. Nicolas won't do anything to you," Dylan said, offering me a smile.
"I'll just tell him that you're my mate and he'll respect that. Besides, there was no harm done, all you did was run away," Dylan said, pulling me to his chest.
I inhaled his scent, as more tears started rolling down my cheeks.
"He wasn't my Alpha," I said, my voice just above a whisper.
"What?"
"Alpha Nicolas was not my Alpha," I repeated.
Dylan looked confused, and even pulled away a little.
"Then, who was?"
"Jackson was my Alpha and his Beta is my dad," I told him, looking down at my hands, feeling as my palms were getting sweaty.
"If Jackson was your Alpha, why are you scared of Nicolas?" Dylan asked, narrowing his eyes. I felt scared at how Dylan's posture and attitude seemed to have changed.
"Answer me. Why are you afraid of Nicolas?" He repeated, this time his voice sounded full of authority.
"Alpha Jackson arranged the marriage between Alpha Nicolas and me," I confessed, tears now falling continuously from my eyes.
"You are married to Nicolas?" Dylan asked, standing up and pushing me away from him.
"What?" I asked him, feeling confused by his words.
"Are you and Nicolas married?" I could see Dylan's wolf taking over. His fists were clenched and his eyes were shifting to black.
"I ran away before the wedding," I said, willing my words to come out fast so that Dylan would know everything that happened.
"I was about to get married, but I ran away before it happened," I repeated.
"Why?" Dylan asked, taking a seat and putting his head in his hands.
"I'm sorry, I know running away makes me look like a coward, but I couldn't do it. I couldn't marry Alpha Nicolas because I didn't love him and he was doing it for all the wrong reasons," I told Dylan, slowly getting closer to him.
"That's not what I meant. Why would they do that to you? Why would they force any wolf into an arranged marriage? We all have our mates, and you are mine," Dylan said, getting my shoulders and crashing me to his chest.
"I don't know, my father thought it would be good for me, since Nicolas is an Alpha. And Alpha Jackson was going to form an agreement to unify the packs," I explained.
"That's it? That is the dumbest excuse I've ever heard!" Dylan shouted and got up to start pacing the room.
"I'm sorry," I apologized, not being able to look directly at him. I felt shame with what had happened and with me running away.
"No, don't say that. This isn't your fault Leila," he said, walking closer and kneeling in between my legs.
"I can't believe they would do that to any wolf. I can't believe they would do that to you. What if you hadn't run away? What if I'd never found you, until you were his wife?" Dylan's voice sounded agitated and full of anger.
