"What else did Alpha Nicolas say?" I asked Blake, still standing between him and Dylan.
"He just wants another pack to join him. Even with Jackson's support, both their packs combined are still smaller than Midnight Moon. One more pack would give him the advantage he needs."
"Did you agree?" Dylan asked him.
"I hope your question was a joke," Blake said, looking at Dylan with a frown.
"In any case, if they want to attack, they will have to do it alone. No one wants to go against Midnight Moon because you have a very strong pack. It's just not worth it," Blake replied.
I felt slightly relieved by his words.
"What does Nicolas think about that?" Dylan asked Blake. He seemed to have let his demanding attitude behind as he spoke.
"He's not happy, but he thinks he's got a shot. I think someone needs to take over his pack. His obsession with Leila isn't doing his pack any good. And it isn't exactly doing him any favors either," Blake said, taking out his cellphone and looking through it.
"What do you mean he isn't doing himself any favors?" I asked.
"A few hours after speaking with Nicolas, I got a call from John, another Alpha. He asked me if Nicolas was joking," Blake explained, letting out a chuckle.
"People aren't even taking him serious anymore. Especially because everyone now knows that Leila is your mate. Nicolas has no right to be behaving this way," Blake finished saying.
Things felt a bit tense after we got the Alpha Nicolas conversation out of the way.
With Dylan and Blake in the same room, it was almost impossible to think straight. I had to be alert, in case they wanted to go at each other.
"Do you think I can speak with Leila, alone?" Blake asked Dylan.
"You don't have to ask him, you have to ask me," I scowled at Blake. I didn't appreciate that he didn't even take me into account.
"No," Dylan replied for me either way.
"Leila, can I speak with you alone?" Blake asked, looking at me.
"I said no," Dylan told Blake. He walked to stand next to me, and wrapped his arm around my waist possessively.
"Sure, that's great," Blake replied, sarcastically to Dylan.
"Leila, can we talk?" Blake asked me directly, completely ignoring Dylan.
"She's my mate," Dylan growled.
"Dylan, let me talk to-"
"No!" Dylan said sharply, completely cutting me off.
'What's wrong with me talking to Blake alone? Don't you trust me?' I asked Dylan through our mind link.
'He wants you. I don't care if he's helpings with Nicolas. I don't want him near you, especially alone,' Dylan replied.
Blake was looking between Dylan and me, probably guessing that we were communicating through our mind link.
"Russell is outside your house. He's my third in command. While Leila finishes persuading you, I'm going to go ahead and give Russell some instructions," Blake said.
He was grinning at me as he left the room.
I could really swear there was no Alpha like Blake. He was always so relaxed and cheerful.
"Why does he want to speak with you alone?" Dylan asked as soon as Blake was out of earshot.
"I'm not really sure. The way you undermine me all the time still amazes me. I don't know why. You'd think I would get used to your airs of superiority," I told Dylan, my voice no doubt sounding hurt.
