Chapter 27 - Coming Clean

Lilith's POV

" Did they say why this meeting is being called?" I shook my head no, we were currently on the way to the packhouse for an urgent meeting that was called this afternoon. It isn't unusual for pack meetings to be called last minute, but it is unusual for us to be requested in them which usually means that the attendance for the pack members is compulsory. " Only that it was important" I replied, hopefully it isn't anything to add to the threat that this pack is being shown by rogues. 

The twins were in my car whilst Maximus and Vivian were following in the car behind us, I was hoping this wouldn't last too long as I have to get back to work. Leo, one of my father's council advisors' son is coming to stay here with us to get a wider knowledge of the pack and pack life considering this is the pack that the palace works with the most.  I have a lot of paperwork to go over before his arrival, which I assume will be around the same time that Demitrius will be coming back from his vacation.  " With these people you never know what is important and what isn't" I giggled as it was true, this pack tends to be slightly dramatic with any situation. 

It didn't take long before we arrived at the pack house, the Alpha was already stood outside waiting for us to arrive but, weirdly, he was by himself without the Luna or Alexander stood by his side. "Or maybe it is actually serious" The somber look on the Alpha's face made me feel slightly uneasy, almost nauseaus. Something was happening tonight, something of importance, it may have already even happened. 

" Good Evening to you all, thank you for coming at such a short notice" the Alpha greeted us as we got out of our cars, eager beaver. The guys smiled at him as they glanced at me, waiting for me to do what Demitrius usually would. "Good Evening Alpa" I nodded my head as his gaze was fixated on me, I felt as though he knew something about me that I didn't know myself. As though he knew my darkest secret. "It's not a problem, shall we proceed to the meeting hall?" I probed wanting to get away from his quizzical gaze, I genuinely felt as though he was analyzing my soul.

He carried on staring at me solely without a single word leaving his mouth before abruptly turning and walking inside the building. We followed him in suit, despite knowing exactly where the meeting hall was due to the amount of times we have been summoned here. 

Well, that wasn't weird at all. 

I agreed with Caspian, at times like these I am so thankful that as wolves we have a way to communicate without having to use sound. 

When we walked into the meeting hall everyone else was pretty much sat or stood already, they must have been waiting for us. 

Are we late?

 No Viviann, they just clearly love to make sure we're last. 

I looked at her and she gave me a small smile noticing my joke, we're always the last to a meeting and seventy percent of the time it is because we are late or just get asked last. 

We walked to the back of the room and stood, our backs pressed against the wall. Although we are the royal family, this pack is not ours, we are simply visitors or observers of the pack and therefore not everything that goes on is of importance to us. 

" Thank you all for coming" The Alpha was standing at the front of the room on a slightly raised platform, it almost looked like a stage. " This meeting was called last minute as it was decided upon last minute, this meeting is not going to be ran by me but by my son" Everyone snapped their heads to look at Alexander, he was sat on a chair on the stage with a visibly upset Emma by his side. My stomach began to drop for all reasons, is she pregnant? That thought pained me, I had to remind myself that he is no longer my mate and if he wanted to impregnate another then that was his choice. I couldn't help the anger that was brewing in my body as I thought of that, being here around him and him using every chance he got to be near me was definitely not helping me in the slightest.

" Lil, chill" I felt Caius' hand wrap around mine and I felt my heartbeat start to slow down to a normal pace. The power of family support is so important, I am so lucky to have a family that love me the way that they do. Despite the support, I could still feel the tension that was rolling off off every famiy member of mine that was standing in this room, everyone was visibly anxious as to what Alexander had to say and why Emma was upset. I hate having to wait, patience is not my thing and it never has been and it most likely never will be. I often admire Demitrius, he manages to remain so calm and patient all the time despite of the situation. It is hard for a standard human to remain patient in many of the situations that we have been placed in, but even harder for people with heightened senses like ourselves and despite that, he never lashes out. 

"Thank you everyone" I was snapped out of my trance by my mates voice booming throughout the room, he definitely held authority in himself. " I'm aware that this compulsory meeting was called very last minute, but this is something that I need you all to be present for. It is a matter of emergency as it concerns the future leadership of this pack" I stared at Alexander as my family members were taking side glances at me. Surely, any change of leadership should have been discussed with us first? 

You can't just pass a pack onto someone else without informing the royal household of doing that first, if he had surpassed us then my mom or dad would have long called me to inform me. If not me, then Demitrius and he would then in turn call me. I knew this pack was questioning my claim to the Ivanov's, although this will soon be explained to them and the whole world, it does not grant them permission to bypass me. Or the rest of the family. 

"Not to worry, the pack is still staying in my fathers and then my own hands" My gaze fixated now on Emma. So this is what it is about. I broke my gaze away from the stage and looked at Vivian who's eyes were already on me. 

"This is regarding the Luna of the pack" I took a deep breath of air in, I needed to prepare myself for whatever it is that is going to happen next. Has he found someone else? "A lot of you may believe that Emma is my mate" I scanned the room and looked at the numerous of confused faces, or the numerous of faces that were gaping at me with bead like eyes. Many people in this room know excactly who his mate is, because they were there when the rejection occurred. 

"I am saddened to say, that I lied to many of you" Caspian and Caius moved, each were now stood by my side ready to protect me if needs be. I have said this so many times, but I am so lucky to have the family that I do. The gasps around the room broke my away from focusing on my family and back to focusing on the situation that was unfolding infront of us. "My mate is not Emma" I looked around the room and there was a mixture of responses to Alexander. Some people were happy, some people were angry that his own Alpha lied to them. 

" I know who my mate is, but I am not disclosing this information yet" He was now looking straight at us. 

" Not until I know that I can be the mate that she deserves"

I couldn't look away. 

I couldn't breathe. 

I couldn't move.
