Chapter 23 - Lilith Takes The Charge

Lillith's POV -

"Thanks a lot Vivian, if I didn't want to see him anytime soon you made sure that I will" I was pissed with Vivian, I have tried to minimise the amount of hours of a day that I had to spend with Alexander. Now that Vivian had formally accepted the Alpha's invitation for a dinner, that number of hours will be increased. 

"If you mess with me then everyone has to pay" Vivian sat back in her chair and shrugged her shoulders, Demitrius stood up and stormed out of the room. "Sometimes Viv, your actions affect others too" I replied walking out after Demetrius. 

I love my family, I really do but at this precise point I would love to strangle Vivian. 

"Dem, hold up" I ran after him until he halted and allowed me to catch up. 

"I'm sorry Lil, I didn't want to agree to this stupid dinner" I nodded my head understanding, Dem was trying to protect me, and the rest of us, far too often. "Sooner or later we would of had to have some form of dinner with them, the Alpha loves making that happen" I replied as we made our way down our driveway towards the gate. "Yeah, shame that he doesn't love to train his pack as much as he loves to have us at the pack house" I giggled at that as we stared at the sky. The sun was setting and the colours were fading to darkness, I love this transition period. Where light meets darkness, a darkness that is beautiful and enchanting yet holds so many secrets. 

"What's on your mind?" I asked as we slipped through the gates and walked deeper into the woods. We didn't shift, we just walked and enjoyed the breeze and the fresh air that engulfed us. "So many things, I thought that the most stressful part of being one of us would be taking the crown. If it still is, I'm scared" I nodded my head, my brother was pretty much our leader away from Russia. He makes the decisions here, we just execute what he and the castle want us to do. He pretty much communicates America with Russia, and then to top it off he has his own problems, and our problems, to deal with. He is stressed and has a right to be. 

"You and Arria should go on a vacation" I started off, a vacation would hopefully destress him and give him and Arria plenty of time for themselves. " I can't do that, I have to stay here and make sure that everything runs properly" I rolled my eyes. 

"Demitrius, there are five of us here, you can afford to relax for at least a couple of days?" Demitirius looked at me hard before he looked away and contemplated what I said. "The Alpha is an idiot and with the recent attacks----" I stopped Demitrius before he made any more irrelevant excuses. 

"I can handle the Alpha, we can all handle the pack attacks if there is another one. You and Arria need this time" He looked ahead before he sighed and stopped. 

"Fine, for a few days" I smiled at him , happy that I managed to win him over.  "We should probably head back" I nodded and stood up. 

Demitrius is much too overworked, he is constantly stressing about the pack, the kingdom, us, me. Everything has took too much time away from him and Arria, and it's time that they let their hair loose.

"Can I trust you all to not burn this house down whilst I'm gone?" It was a day later and Dem and Arria were leaving for Norway. When we had the chat, Dem got back and booked a last minute holiday to Norway within the hour. Literally. "Demitrius, when did we ever burn anything down?"  The twins smiled sweetly at Demitirus, he looked at them in bewilderement. 

"The garden shed last summer, one of the palace rooms, your own rooms.." Maximus started listing things off on his fingers, truth be told the twins cannot be left anywhere alone. "That's in the past and doesn't need to be brought up again" The twins glanced at Maximus and back at Demitrius. 

"The past is why I am leaving Lil to overlook everything" I snapped my head towards Dem. Is he being serious right now? "I told the Alpha if he has any business whilst I'm gone to address it to you, I expect you all to be able to look after your----" Vivian cut Demitrius off. 

"You sound like a father, we get it. Now stop stressing and enjoy your few days away together" Vivian stood up and walked over to Dem and Arria before turned them around and ushered them out the door. 

"Bye have fun" We all shouted in unison as they waved, whilst still being pushed by Vivian. 

"So, if you need us to talk to the Alpha for you then we can. We won't make you face Alexander" I smiled at Maximus and shook my head. " I'm fine, it's fine. I'll be taking over the duties whenever Demitrius is taking time off or is going away so I need to get used to it. We're Ivanov's and the welfare of our race comes before us" I took the last bite of my croissant as I finished my very short speech and stood up. 

"So inspirational" The twins put their hands over their hearts as if they were fan girling, I shook my head and laughed. "Alright, school time" I moaned picking my bag up and grabbing my car keys.  " Can we like ditch now that Demitrius isn't here?"  Caspian shot his shot whilst both of the twins followed me outside to the car. "I may be in charge but I don't have a death wish, and I want to keep my ears once he does come back" I opened my car door and let the twins fight about who was going to be in the passenger seat. 

I would not change this for the world, even if I could.
