Chapter 2 - The past

Lilith -

I was walking home from school, it was a hot May day which in Britain was very rare and my black school uniform was making me feel sticky with sweat.

" Bye Lilith, I'll see you tomorrow" I waved to me bestfriend Georgia goodbye and carried on my way home. I had another twenty minutes left due to me living in the more remote area of the town. My parents are both very high qualified doctors so we can afford to live in the most luxurious areas of the town but this means that I don't get to see them as often. I'm the only child so I'm left alone with my nanny and the rest of workers.

As soon as I got to my gate I knew something was wrong, I had a feeling in my gut. I anxiously walked over to my front door, I didn't know why I was shaking or why I was feeling anxious but I was. I unlocked the door after dropping my keys a few times, I pushed it open to see the most horrific scene I have ever seen in my entire life. My hands flew to my mouth, my thirteen year old self looked around the trashed house, the trashed house full of blood. I ran to the living room to see my parents, the nanny, the workers all lying lifeless on the floor. I screamed and dropped to my knees, this isn't happening. This can't be happening.

I fiddled around in my school bag for my phone, as soon as I got it I dialed 999.

" Hello emergency services how may I help?" I heard the monotonous voice of the operator. I burst out crying. " Hello is everything okay?" I heard the voice soften when she heard my cry.

"N-No, my, my parents, the workers, everyone" I sobbed on the phone looking at all seven bodies. "What's happened to everyone hunny?" I heard the woman say over the phone.

" They're all...dead" I whispered the last part, I didn't want to believe it.

" Okay listen darling, go and sit outside, the police and the ambulance or on their way" I followed the woman's instruction and sat outside until the police came. I sat in the ambulance and watched as body after body was wheeled out of my house and into black cars. The bodies of my loved ones, the bodies of the people that cared for me. I was worried, I didn't know what would happen to me.

" Burgarly gone wrong, the girl would have died if she was home earlier" I heard one of them men say on the phone. My whole life came crashing down because of someone's greed.

Soon after I was shipped off to America, with half a million pounds to my name to my only family, my great Aunt Judy. Aunt Judy was my mother's aunt, she took me in, clothed me, fed me, loved me. But it was never the same, it wasn't the same love as my parents gave me. I was depressed, alone. I went to middle school where I wasn't accepted. I then moved onto high school where I found my new family.

My new family knew who I was before I knew myself who I was. Aunt Judy knew who I was before anyone knew who I was. At the age of seventeen I shifted into my silver wolf, the shift was painful but bearable and soon after I found out my true origins. From then on I've been finding more and more out about my new world both from my family and my Aunt.

When I lived in England, my name was Lilith Smith. It wasn't until I shifted that I knew what my real surname was. Lilith Ivanov, from the Ivanov family, the Ivanov family of Russia. The very same royal family of the king and queen of the supernaturals. The king was my mother's brother, my mother never found her mate and after a hundred year she settled with a human despite the objections from her family. She knew I was one of them, but she never told me, I don't think she wanted to believe it. A human and a werewolf had never conceived a pure werewolf, but then again a royal werewolf never conceived a child with a human. Caspian, Caius, Maximus and Demetrius are all my real cousins. Viviana and Arria were normal werewolves until they met their mates.

Currently I was driving home to get ready for pack control. I've been driving aimlessly around the state for the past four hours but I knew I had duties and responsibilities and I wasn't going to give them up because of some arsehole. I also knew I had to face my family.

I walked into the house and knew they were all in the kitchen so I walked over. " Where's Noah?" I asked as soon as I got in, I was hoping Noah could bake me some cookies but instead I seen Arria with an apron on and some big cooking gloves. " We let him go home... but don't worry I've made you cookies" I smiled at Arria.

" Thank you you amazing werewolf" I said slipping down into my usual seat between Caspian and Caius who both seemed really tense. I didn't want this atmosphere. " How are you feeling?" Demetrius asked me with a concerned tone, this is exactly what I didn't want. " I feel like absolute shit and I hate it, I hate the fact I feel like shit because of that twat, the twat I didn't even care about until today" I truthfully answered, there was no lying to Demetrius.

"I want to kill that douche, can we kill that douche?" Caspian asked Demetrius is such a serious tone that it made me laugh. " Lil he's being serious, can I join you Casp?"Caius leaned over the table to look at Caspian. " Of course you can, so can we?" Caspian looked at Demetrius again.

" You do realise that douche in French is shower?" I asked the twins who have already brightened up my day. " You want to kill that shower? Wow guys care to be specific we have more than one in this house" Maximus joined in on our humour which made Viviana roll her eyes in a joking matter. " Maxi, it'll be yours if you carry on" Caspian put on a serious face, but his fake serious face looked more like he was really unsettled which made me laugh loudly. " Caspian if you carry on with that face I think I'm going to place you in a freezing cold douche" I laughed at him.

" Guys" we all looked at Demetrius who had laughter evident on his face. " This is a serious matter" he brought back the gloom.

"He's right guys, this is really hard for Lil" Viviana said which made everyone sober up.

" Honestly guys, this is a bad situation but I can manage. I don't want him to affect me in any way, I know it's going to be really hard but I want us all to carry on living the way we were. I don't need him, I only need you all" as soon as I finished my tiny speech, Arria placed a big plate mounted with cookies, the aroma of the heavenly goods made my mouth water. " Besides, I want him to regret rejecting this feeble human " We all knew I was far from feeble, and far from human so we all chuckled and ate the cookies. "Seriously though, I'm so going to make him regret my sis" Caspian said with a mouthful of cookies.

" Yeah I'm completely in but don't speak with your mouth full again you mouldy algae" Caius comes up with the weirdest insults I have heard in my entire eighteen years of life. " I'm pretty sure algae can't be mouldy" Arria said picking another cookie up.

" Yes it can, just look at Caspian" Caius pointed his finger across me, why does my seat have to be in the middle of the twins. " I don't look like moudly algae" Caspian tried to fight his cause once again with his mouth full of food. Some of the cookie from his mouth sprayed out onto Caius' outstretched finger. " Oh my god" Caius' horrified face made me laugh loudly. " You're worse than moudly algae, I think I'm going to be sick" as soon as Caius said those words the door bell rang. " I'll get it" Dem got up before anyone had the chance.

" Wipe it off, wipe it off" Caius screamed like a child and was waving his finger infront of Caspian. " Hmm, I don't know why should the mouldy algae do anything?" Caspian crossed his arms and turned his head away from the finger. " Caspian I swear to god I will personally--" we heard a clear of a throat and looked up to see the current Alpha of the pack that we are staying at. Also the father of my mate. " Good evening" he greeted us very politely and formally. This made Caius sit down and stop moaning about his finger but under the table I could see that he was holding it away from the rest of his body.

" Good evening Alpha Stone" we all said in unison, unrehearsed which made the Alpha look at us very intrigued. " Thank you for having me at your residence tonight"

Uninvited, if your little son comes a long then sorry but bye felicia.

Caspian mindlinked us all and you could see our smug smirks. " Anyway, I just wanted to check up on you all and wondered if you needed anything" we all looked at each other unsurprised. The Alpha always wanted to suck up to us, the royal family.
