Chapter 26 - Time To Tell The Pack

Alexander's POV - 

"You called for me dad?" I woke up this morning and my father called for me straight away, he only does this if something is wrong. "Yes, please sit down son"  I obliged straight away, if something is wrong with the pack then I want to know. " Who is your mate son?" I knew he was having his suspicions, but for the best of the situation I need him to not know. " I told you, a human from school" I replied looking anywhere but him. 

"Is that so?" I nodded my head pretending to be taking interest in the painting that was hung on the wall, a painting of one of my anecestors. " Is there a reason why you seemed to be getting close to one of the Ivanov's?" I snapped my head towards my father confused why he would call Lilith an Ivanov. Sure, she hangs around with them and lives with them but she can't be one of them. She's not a born royal. "I don't know what you're talking about" I replied slowly trying to read his eyes, my dad was a great man who masked his intentions and feelings very well. " Last night, you seemed very interested in Lillith. Son, is she your mate?" I gulped. 

"No dad" I was raking my brain to try and come up with an excuse, an answer, to satisfy my dad so he could stop asking me about her. I don't think I would be able to keep my secret in for long if I keep getting asked. " I just thought because of how close she is to the Ivanov's that she could help me understand them better and work with them better, like easing them in one by one" My dad was silent for a while, he was just looking at me with no expression on his face. He was trying to read me to see if I was telling the truth, it was making me uncomfortable, very uncomfortable. 

I always struggled to lie to my dad, because he trained me and generally spent a lot of time with me all my life he could read me like a book. 

"I see" He hummed still looking at me. " That's one of the smartest things you could have done to date, and there is another thing that you could do" I nodded at him, one of the biggest priorities in life was to make sure my dad was proud of me, I'm not sure I always succeeded. My father was nothing like me when he was my age, he was a calm boy, had his priorities straight, he never messed about with girls and he never been with any other woman than my mom. I have recently started to regret my youngster decisions, especially since realising who Lilith was to me. I even regret the way I just rejected her like it was nothing, infront of the whole school cafeteria it is humiliation I don't think I could ever forgive someone. I hope in my deepest of hearts that I find a way for us to be together, a way to make everything up to her. 

"You need to tell the pack the truth" I looked at him confused. " The truth about Emma not being your mate, the pack will distrust you for a while but the longer you leave it the worst it will get" my stomach dropped because I knew that this day was coming, I knew that one day I will have to tell the pack the truth about Emma. I have no idea why I ever introduced her to the pack as my mate, I don't know why I ever thought that was a good idea or that it would work out. Even if Lilith wasn't in the picture, Emma would never be Luna material, she can't lead and she definitely couldn't protect this pack the way that a Luna would need to. I guess Lilith has made me reflect on my life, whether I wanted her to or not. 

"Son?" I snapped out of my trance and looked at my dad, as much as I didn't want the pack to distrust me, I knew what I had to do. " I know, I just don't know how I would do that" my dad nodded. " Well, I think you should start off with having that conversation with Emma to make her aware of your plans, and then I assume we will do this through a pack meeting and we need to do it fast because we have a new pack member joining us in the next few days" I raised my eyebrows at my dad, since Lilith we haven't have had any new members. 

"I will speak to Emma after this meeting, and I guess you can call a pack meeting today" My dad nodded. " Good son, I'm glad you are finally coming to your senses" I nodded my head, this is the first step in a way to get Lilith back and to find a way for us to be together. " Who is the new member?" 

" His name is Leo Romanov, he is the son of Maksim Romanov, one of the King's advisors" I raised my eyebrows even more, weirdly we are seeing more and more members of the royal court join our pack. " How come he is here?" I asked confused. 

" Well he is here for school, but also to learn more about standard pack life I suppose as he will be taking over his father's duties once he retires" I nodded my head, it made sense why he would be placed in our pack. " This is why I want you to address the pack as soon as possible, it will be bad enough that the Ivanov's will know about this, we don't need anymore royal staff and other packs to know" I feel like I have brought shame on this pack with my actions, why couldn't I have just passed off as if I haven't found my mate yet. 

" Yes father" I replied quietly, feeling very defeated. 

I am defeated.
