⚠️. Asteria’s POV
Two hours had passed and half of us are still awake at this point. It seems like their thoughts are all clouded and most of them seemed disturbed.
“Hey, are you okay?” I realized that I’ve been staring at the candle’s light slowly dying down that I didn’t notice Millan appearing next to me.
She sat down next to my spot and offered her thick jacket to keep me comfy and warm. The night is still young but it’s also starting to get eery with this darkness surrounding us.
I thanked her before hugging myself with her jacket keeping me cozy. We sat in silence for a couple of minutes and enjoyed each other’s company, even though it’s already pass our sleeping time.
“Do you ever think we’ll survive this?” Millan spoke in a low tone. I glanced at her and then back at the candle.
Hearing that question from her was new to me since I always knew that Millan had been so optimistic all her life, that the only thing she ever think of is her list of goals as a virologist, a friend and someone who wanted to enjoy her journeys in life.
If this didn’t happen, she could’ve been celebrating her milestones in life by now and without Cameron’s schemes getting into her own spotlight.
“There are small chances, Mills. But whatever happens, we’d still get through all of this” I stated my reply in calmer and optimistic tone so she could tell that no matter what happens, I am always just behind her or ahead of her fears.
“Thank you for coming home. You don’t know how long I waited for you to come back..” a smile tugged on my lips while the same goes to her. I told her to wait for me and by that time comes, I’d let her court me but time wasn’t really in our favors.
She gently held one of my hands and intertwined it with hers, cherishing this very moment because we’re afraid that history won’t ever repeat itself after this.
I went closer to her and leaned my head on her shoulder. We stayed in that position for two good minutes until the candle has finally died down in front of us, seemingly telling us that it’s time to get some rest.
“You should get some sleep since maaga tayo aalis bukas” Millan whispered and was about to stand up when I pulled her back down again only to embrace her.
I didn’t say anything and just held her in my arms, embracing her warm body and letting her comfort calm me. She returned the hug and planted a soft kiss on my forehead before telling me to lie down and get plenty of rest tonight.
And so, I did. I rolled my sleeping bag beside Grazer’s so that I’m in between her and Millan. I saw Millan glancing at me with a smile before lying down and used her arms as her pillow.
I did the same and turned to face her only to see that her eyes are now closed, her body slowly drifting to her dreamland. I smiled at the sight of her beauty even though it was dark, the moonlight’s reflection beamed at the side of her face and showed me a real life goddess.
If Ares had a daughter, it would be Millan. Ares is known to be the God of War, Millan is known for fighting a war that isn’t hers to begin with and these Gods knows that Millan did not deserve any of this chaos surrounding her already war-ridden head.
