Varian's POV:
We both were running as soon as the ghost had told us where to go.
My heart was in my throat as Hugo rushed past me, his longer legs helping him forward faster then my own-
"COME ON GOGGLES HURRY!!", he shouted glancing back."What the hell you think I'm doing?!", I shouted back, nearly bursting into tears for almost as I ran forward with all my strength. "NURU AND YONG WILL DIE IF WE DON'T HELP THEM IN TIME!!"
"Obviously!!", he retorted before banking to the left sharply, "I'll get to that damn fountain!!! You try to stop and wake them up!!"
My heart left even further up my throat at that. HE WAS JUST PLANNING ON LEAVING AGAIN?!?
WHAT THE HELL WAS HE THINKING?!?"HUGO!!!", I protested harshly.
"ILL BE BACK, YOU JUST MOVE YOUR ASS!!"
I could only watch for that second before he disappeared into the swirling soup of fog, the heavy cold gray mass swallowing him as I ran toward the middle of the abandoned village.
The town square.
That's where the source of the murders that happened in the past had occurred. And that was where my friends would most likely be too.
I couldn't let them die...
And if they did- it'd be all my fault.
Tears flew off my cheeks as I neared the center, afraid of what I'd find. Or wouldn't find...
My boots pounded the ground as I dodged sudden appearances of buildings from the mist while my hands clenched the glowing staff tightly.
Wielding the golden staff ahead of me, I skidded to a stop as the grey silvery mass of condensation suddenly cleared, showing me broken and decrepit old houses lined around the square with a statue in the center. Wilted weeds and knarled wooden vines twirled around and wrecked everything in sight as the mist moved ahead blocking my view of the horizon over the first blockade of buildings.
The forgotten cobbled street underneath me seemed to shift as my eyes darted around for signs of danger... or better yet, Yong and Nuru.
I was afraid to use my voice. Hesitant to.
Obviously something was out here to kill us... evil spirits more specifically on a bloodthirsty vengeance.
But if I never called out, they might not know to stop, to even try to think of it!
I was terrified beyond anything.
Gripping the staff tighter in my hands I walked forward again, hoping I knew what to do if I did actually come across a murderous ghost.
"Y-YONG!! NURU!!", I shouted, scanning the area, "GUYS ITS ME!! WHERE ARE YOU?!?"
Suddenly I heard a snap.
The cracking of splintering wood suddenly.
I whirled around and blocked the attack, throwing up my arms while holding back the jagged piece of wood within an inch to my face.
I didn't know whether to feel relief or horror from my attacker.
I saw Nuru.
She was the one who attacked me; her hands and eyes scarlet colored as she bore the wood harder down on me.I had found her... or she had found me it seemed.
Grunting I pushed her back roughly, swinging my staff down on her weapon and snapping it into firewood.
"NURU!! SNAP OUT OF IT, ITS JUST ME!!", I panted, pointing the staff at her warningly, "WHATEVER SHIT IS GOING DOWN, FIGHT IT!! NURU PLEASE!!", I pleaded as she came back at me, sharp and short pieces of uneven wood being thrust toward me like daggers.
