Hugo's POV:

Goggles screams wrenched through the fog and right to my bones as I ran toward the town center, making my heart accelerate in fear.

Something terrible had just happened. It sounded like someone had just gotten tortured.
Like HE had gotten tortured...

I grabbed the pole of the crooked lamppost that rose from the heavy fog suddenly, swinging myself harshly around adjusting my course toward the unnerving scream.

I launched myself forward, vials clanking against one another on my belt as I saw the neatly placed but disintegrating buildings through the swirling cold mist.

I had only been gone two minutes. Two minutes to collect the supposed curing water from the fountain.

TWO.

And of course, some really terrible fucking shit was going down.

I felt myself sweat as I vaulted onto the broken beam of the nearest house, climbing up onto the roof and jumping across to the next nimbly.

How was I sweating?!?

The air was freezing-
It wasn't like I hadn't been in stupid life or death situations before-
This was just like that except People were only trying to finish themselves off because of some damned curse in this instance. In some creepy ass village that actually got inside my head with ghouls with yellow blood who wanted to spill red, specifically ours; With fucking fog that changed and horrible shit on every turn-

I swore more under my breath, panting as I ran across the uneven and unstable roofs, my nerve almost completely gone.

It was all I could do not to just scream from frustration and built up fear, before I broke through the thick blanket of mist finding myself in the town square.

It was like I was in the eye of the hurricane-

My heart dropped to my stomach as I took in the situation, feet planted in the broken terra cotta tiles as Nuru called out to Varian; Nuru trapped near the statue, quicksand almost up to her shoulders.
I had almost missed her-

My eyes darted from her screaming and desperate form to the familiar dark haired male, who was in the middle of clutching his face, screams ripping through his throat as blood ran over his face and shirt.

The Demanitus staff lay on the ground near him, but not near enough as another person -his attacker- shrieked and glitched from the dark-skinned princess' form, squirming on the ground.

I took this all in within a few seconds, feeling immense dread over me as I scanned for the small fireworks kid.

He was nowhere in sight, and I had no time to worry about him when two people in front of me were probably on the brink of death.

Varian's gasping cry then grabbed my attention, to my horror the attacker.. some man, suddenly on him. Even though his wound was still steaming and bleeding out.
I flinched as he threw Varian back, the old road now streaked with more scarlet blood from his freckled arms as I jumped down from the roof, knowing I had to move.

I drew my dagger from my sheath, rushing forward before a spark of light caught my peripheral vision.
I halted just in time as a small rocket suddenly whizzed past my chest in bright yellow sparks, before going straight for the man's face and exploding brilliantly.

I heard Yong let out what I assumed was a cheering battle cry through the man's agonized screams.

I immediately resumed forward, running towards varian to get the fucking creep away, when My eyes then widened as I watched his arm through the sparking smoke.
