Varian's POV:

"Whatcha writing there?", Yong asked trying to peer over my shoulder as I snapped it shut hurriedly.

"Nothing much, just calculations and stuff.", I lied, smiling assuredly at him, "Just trying to make sure we're going the right way."

"Didn't you say we are going the right way already?", he asked scratching his head.

I smiled again, "Doesn't hurt to double check am I right?"

Hugo suddenly snorted from my right, "That's the exact reason I was able to swipe that totem from you to begin with Varian, 'cuz nerds like you are to worried about every little decision. You take too long to get anywhere or do anything." He walked up over to me and crossed his arms, "So we should get moving instead of wasting time on double checking directions."

I took a deep breath in and out, "Listen here Hugo, this is MY trip last time I checked. And I can do whatever I want Alright?"

"Uh-huh... sure...", he smirked.

I felt my heart beat quicken slightly as I shook my head and stood up from the soft grass.

Whatever was going on needed to wait for another time.

I had a mission.

"Stop making things difficult Hugo.", I heard Nuru say crossly as she stepped between me and Hugo, "You're lucky you're even a part of this trip to begin with."

"Varian vouched for me, I have just as much right to be here as the two of you.", he said stretching his hands over his head carelessly.

Nuru blew up her hair in frustration, "Well I think it's GOOD that Varian is smart enough to check and make sure he knows what he's doing."

I went over to both of them and sighed, "Listen guys, it's fine. We're moving now since I'm done, so can you just get along?"

I watched Hugo shrug and she nodded, smiling at me kindly.

"She started griping at me, just saying.", he slipped into my ear as we started off again, "Thinks she's all that 'cuz she's a princess."

I ran a hand over my face in annoyance, "Hugo, do me a favor and just ride in the back of the cart with everyone else.", I said as he looked at me offended.

"I called shotgun, you can't kick me to the back Varian."

He called what?

"Excuse me?"

Hugo rolled his eyes, "It means I can sit up in the front here, that I get the perks and stuff."

I raised an eyebrow, "I don't remember hearing you call anything.", I pointed out.

"That's 'cuz I did it in my head.", he said proudly and before I could protest, he took the reigns out of my hand and whipped them hard, making my old donkey take off fast.

"Aghhhhhh!!!", I yelled gripping to the wooden cart tightly trying to keep myself being thrown out.

Yong and Nuru were yelling and bouncing around in the back as we went over the bumpy road.

"HUGOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!", I yelled angrily, "SLOW IT DOWN NOW!!"

Hugo looked at me and had the nerve to smirk, again. "No can do Goggles, if this donkey is moving like this- I'm taking it!"

I felt my jaw bouncing up and down from the harsh bumps we ran over with over excessive speed.

I slipped and fell into the back, my head hitting Yong's backpack.
