Chapter 36 Part 1 (The Cemetery)

Dawson was sitting in the car next to Casey. "Do you want me to come with you?" He asked her. Dawson took a deep breath. "No I'm fine. I'd rather do this alone." Dawson told him. She got out of the car and went to the back and took Leslie out of the car in her carrier. Then she walked into the Cemetery. She walked up to Shay's gravestone and sat down in front of it. "Hi Shay." She said. "We got the guy...we got him." Dawson paused. "He tried to get to me but Antonio got to me in time." Dawson sighed. Then she reached over and took Leslie out of her carrier. "This is Leslie...Leslie Elizabeth." She said holding her daughter in her arms. "We named her after you." Dawson said starting to tear up. "We thought it would be a good way honor you." Dawson started to lightly cry. Then she put Leslie back in her carrier. "I miss you Shay. Sometimes I still wake up in the morning and expect it all to be a dream and for you to call me on the phone or I'll see you working on the ambulance or at Molly's or somewhere. I just...I still can't believe it's real and that your not here." Dawson sat there just crying. Then she felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned around and there was Casey standing there. He pulled her to her feet and pulled her into a tight hug. "It's okay Gabby...I'm here." He told her kissing her on the head. "I know...but she's not!" Dawson said sobbing into his chest. "Why did this have to happen Matt? Why did she have to die?" Gabby said barely understandable because she was sobbing so hard. "I don't know Gabby...I wish I knew why these things happened...but I don't. All I know is that Shay wouldn't want you to be sad like this. She would want you to be happy and move on with your life. She knew you loved her. That was all that mattered to her...and she loved you." Casey told her rubbing her back. They stood there for awhile and Casey just let her cry.

Chapter 36 Part 2 (Home)

Casey and Dawson were sitting down on the couch with their new nanny Robert. "Okay now before we have you on officially we're gonna have to put you through a trial run which means we're gonna watch you take care of Leslie while we're home." Dawson told him. "Okay I understand that makes a lot of sense you have to make sure I'm a safe and proper caregiver for your daughter." Robert said. Casey and Dawson nodded. "Yes exactly so that's what's gonna happen today. You'll just take care of Leslie normally like you would if we weren't here and that's how we'll make our official decision on whether or not to bring you on permanently." Dawson said to him.

"Hey Gabby I'm gonna go to the store since we're running out of diapers I'll be right back you okay to watch Robert?" Casey asked her. "Yeah I'm fine Matt go go." She said waving him off. Then she walked into Leslie's room and saw Robert feeding Leslie. She stood there her head resting on the doorway smiling at her daughter. Robert looked over at her and beckoned her into the room. Dawson walked over and looked at her daughter. "I'm actually kind of jealous you get to feed her." Dawson said chuckling.
