It's crazy short and Im so sorry, I promise the next will be longer because it'll be about their day. This was really just a filler chapter. Sorry guys!
Chapter 25
The day went by fast. Now we were in our last hour of the day. Theatre. I had with Macy and Mai. I didn't know what to expect. I frowned when I got to the door. So much had changed and it all came rushing back.
"If they say anything I'll kick their ass," I heard from behind me. I looked up and saw Noah smiling at me. I looked back down, but he put a finger under my chin and forced me to look at him.
"Do you want to just skip?" He asked me seriously. In all honesty, I did just want to skip.
I bit my lip, thinking about it. I nodded. He gave me a reassuring smile and took my hand. It felt odd for him to hold my hand, but he was gentle. He quietly brought me over to his truck, opening my door. I got in, setting my bag down on the floor of the front seat. His truck wasn't the nicest, but he was okay with it.
Most people didn't know it was even his, which helped out his status. But even for people that did know, they didn't care. Even when I hated Noah, I had to admit that he was hot.
He got in the drivers side and pulled out of the school parking lot.
"Where to?" He asked me. I looked away from the window to look at him. I furrowed my eyebrows in thought. I could see him smile at me. It was nearly December, so escaping to the beach was obviously out of the question.
I shook my head, looking back out the window. "You choose," I told him quietly. Our bet had ended months ago. At the beach house. I was thankful for that. It was silent for a while as he drove.
"No one hates you, you know," He told me quietly, driving to where ever he had chosen. I looked over at him. he ahd his eyes fixated on the road.
"Like they had at the beach house, they're over it," He said. I knew he was trying to make me feel better.
"I know it wasn't the best time," He said quietly. I listened intently.
"But everything that went on there happened for a reason," He said. I shook my head.
"Everyone tells me that. Please don't turn into one of them," I said softly. Things hadn't been too awkward between Noah and I, but this time they were. Maybe it was because we were alone, or maybe it was just that we had been avoiding it.
He pulled over to the shoulder and stopped his truck. He turned to face me. "I know how much I have to apologize for, Ariana," He told me. I tried to say something but he wouldn't let me.
"I was horrible to you and I've been dying to apologize," he said, looking me in the eyes.
"I made fun of you and messed with you and I was trying to be mean. I thought I was better than you, and I'm not. I never was," He kept talking.
When he finally finished I looked at him for a moment. "I forgave you a long time ago, Noah. But you're a player and whether you meant what you said at the beach house or not, it's questionable," I told him.
"I don't feel like I can trust anyone right now. Just...give me until after Christmas," I begged him.
Winter break was in one week and Christmas was in two. He nodded before starting the car again.
"As much time as you need," He told me softly.
He began driving.
Apparently we were going to spend the rest of the day together. Let's see how that turns out.
