Lonesome kitten,
Like a bitten, sick kid.
In trepidation of neglect.
Troubled teen,
Unstable at ten,
You still held my pen.
Pretty yet feisty,
You stand independently,
Yet supported me all the way.
Walking down the isle,
Astounded, I stood idly,
As I continued our story.
You tended our home,
Without complaint in tow,
While I wrote this down.
I just have to tell you,
“Smile, my heart.
You’re beautiful inside and out.”
