"You're jealous of Jeremy Gilbert."
"I most certainly am not," said Kol sharply from across the table. In front of them was a giant pizza that he'd ordered for them after getting back to the apartment from their time in the batting cages.
"You almost snapped that wooden bat just because he was teaching me proper technique."
Kol scoffed. "Well, there was absolutely no need for him to loop his arm around your waist that way."
Catalina crossed her arms. "You do realize we're conning the boy, right? I can't force him away, or we won't be able to follow him around as easily. I want nothing to do with him. I didn't act interested. I didn't flirt with him. I'm not going to kiss him or sleep with him. I don't like him at all, Kol. I'm doing this in the hopes that your arse of a brother will show us mercy and let us have back what he took from us. Also known as our love for each other, remember?"
Kol was like a fussy child. "I still don't see why we must tolerate his attempts at getting you to notice him."
"You said it yourself, less than two weeks, right? Then everything goes back to normal."
"Does this mean I can't even flirt with you in public?"
Catalina leaned forward. "We live in the same apartment and we will be living in said apartment alone for the coming days. You have plenty of time to talk to me and flirt with me. The world's not ending."
Kol took a slice of pizza, but couldn't even get a bite in once he saw her starting to eat hers. Everything she did was so mesmerizing. The way she'd been eating the chips earlier. Now, the way she delicately held the slice to her mouth and nibbled on it to make sure all the cheese didn't fall off.
"You've got to stop doing that," he told her, saying what was only supposed to be in his head.
She quirked a brow. "Stop doing what?"
"Being so... seductive when you're eating."
"But I'm not trying to be seductive. Maybe you shouldn't look at me while you eat if it bothers you so much."
Kol's mouth dropped open a bit, and Catalina started to eat once more, making direct eye contact with him. He gulped when she slid her tongue out to gather one of the pepperoni slices. She licked her lips when she was done and momentarily closed her eyes. Kol couldn't help but slam his fist down on the table.
"I swear you're doing that on purpose," he said, which made her giggle.
"Aw, Kol Mikaelson, am I getting you worked up that easily?" She winked. "Come on, darling, you're an Original, have more fortitude than that."
"Fortitude?" he said, his voice nearly cracking. "I'm beginning to think that I finally understand how Tantalus felt."
"No, you definitely don't understand him. You didn't serve your progeny as a feast to the gods. You don't have progeny. If you did, I would know."
Kol just watched as she laughed again, continuing to eat (though she did it normally this time). "I think I'm going to get another drink," she said, looking over to where the pizza delivery boy remained in the corner, staring at them, compelled to stay still and silent. "Care to join? Or do you just want to watch me drain the life out of him?"
"If you do that, I'll have to excuse myself," said Kol, feeling like he might start to swear. "Tere, don't..."
"What?" she said innocently, going to stand behind the boy, reaching her hands to his front and ripping his shirt a bit to expose more of his neck. "I'm just quenching my thirst." She dragged her tongue over the place she intended to bite into before doing so, and starting to feed.
