They zoomed to the Zanadew Lounge.
As soon as they arrived, they came to a halt in the forest outside the building, to make sure they couldn't be seen or heard. It placed them close enough to eavesdrop on the conversation happening inside.
"You said you were gonna convince Klaus to do this another way!" Jeremy was complaining.
"Well," came Damon Salvatore's voice, "I thought about it, and then I realized his idea was better."
"No way," said Jeremy. "I'm not doing this."
"What makes you think you have a choice?" inquired Klaus.
"You have to kill vampires to complete the Hunter's Mark," noted Damon. "Mark equals cure. You're in a bar full of vampires, so get your hunt on."
Kol and Catalina shared a look, before creeping closer, so that they could look into the window. Sprawled on the tables were several people, apparently in transition. Clearly, Klaus had been keeping busy.
"Screw you," Jeremy was saying. "You said I wouldn't have to kill any innocent people."
"Jeremy, they're not people," said Damon sharply.
Klaus had obviously grown impatient. "Enough. Have at it, or else."
"I don't take orders from you, dick," said Jeremy. "Hunters can't be compelled."
Klaus laughed. "You're right, I can't compel you. But if your conscience is getting in the way, then allow me to make it easy for you. Because I can compel them. I'm gonna give you a two minute head start. Then, I'm gonna send every vampire in here after you. You kill them, or they kill your friend... Matt."
"Wait a second," said the boy that was standing with them.
"No, no," snapped Damon. "You turn them, he kills them. That was the deal, Klaus."
Klaus smirked. "I'm taking artistic license."
"You know he can't take them all on at the same time!"
"With you as his coach, he'll be fine. It's Matt I'm worried about..."
Damon gave a defeated sigh. "Ah... Jeremy, go get the weapons out of the car. I'll be right behind you. Both of you."
Kol and Catalina jumped back so that they wouldn't be seen as Jeremy and Matt exited the building.
"If I hear an engine start," Klaus yelled from inside, "I'll kill Matt myself!"
The two vampires watched as the boys went to the car, grabbed the weapons, then took off. Neither of them had a desire to slaughter vampires, and apparently, they thought the smartest decision was to run away. Obviously, this didn't escape Klaus's notice, because not even two full minutes later, the newly turned vampires were walking out, presumably under Klaus's orders to find the two boys. Moments later, Klaus left, and Damon sped out in the direction the two boys had gone.
"Those vampires don't have daylight rings," said Kol. "And I doubt they know what's happened to them. Which means... if they're unsuccessful in getting Jeremy and Matt... they're going to come back here."
"You wait here," said Catalina. "I'll see where they go. When they come back, kill them."
"Just a warning, love," said Kol before she could dash off. "You had the Hunter's Curse before, and it wasn't pretty. Do not, under any circumstance, kill Jeremy Gilbert. We'll get rid of the vampires so that he has nothing to reveal the mark. He's too much of a coward to kill vampires just for that purpose. Make sure no one sees you."
