Elena and Damon showed up the next day.

Kol and Catalina had been walking halfheartedly to the batting cages in the park, where Jeremy had set up another 'fun' day for them.

The Original was already angry enough with what Klaus had said about Finn's death. Now, the prospect of seeing Jeremy's hands all over Catalina again was driving him crazy.

"Maybe you shouldn't go," said Catalina when they were almost there. "What if you get a headstart on locating Mary Porter? If we aren't able to kill Jeremy and the others, then maybe it's best to shut her up. What do you remember about her? Do you think Rose could have already told her who turned her?"

"I doubt it," said Kol. "I remember Mary. Nik had an affair with her when we were back in France in 1315. Very brief. She did spend quite a bit of time with us... I recall you hated her because she was throwing herself at Elijah and Rebekah as soon as Nik got bored of her. But eventually she left. From what I heard, Mary only slipped Rose her blood after befriending and killed her, then left. Mary had a tendency to turn people randomly. I highly doubt Rose would know who sired Mary."

"Then maybe you should go and see her," said Catalina. "Silence her for good."

"What, and leave you alone with that little twit you stares at your breasts more than he does your face?"

Catalina half-smiled. "No, leave me to deal with said twit and whoever comes to his rescue. I'm almost as strong as you, Kol, I can handle myself. You're not in a good mood. We still need to pretend to be Jeremy's friends to get close enough, remember?"

"Alright," said Kol. "But I won't go see Mary yet. I'll go and check out his home, in case his visitors went there first. I doubt they had the time to tell him they were coming, if he offered to meet us here."

"Fine by me," said Catalina. "We'll meet back at our apartment if things don't go our way, alright?"

"Sure." He almost dared to kiss her, but withdrew, and just sped away.

As she approached the batting cages, she heard voices, letting her know that Elena and Damon were already there.

"Katherine sired us," the vampire was saying to the boy, "Rose sired Katherine, all we need to do is find out who sired Rose."

"So, you traveled across the country to get me to talk to a dead vampire?" asked Jeremy.

"Dead vampire is redundant, but yes."

"Well, I can't," said the teen. "I could talk to Anna and Vicki because I knew them. I've never even met Rose."

Damon scoffed. "What good is you dying and coming back to life if you can't talk to a ghost when I need you to?"

"Rose spent a long time running from Klaus as well," said Elena as Catalina walked up, seeing the doppelgänger and the other vampire had their backs turned to her. "She and Damon were close, so maybe we can use him as a connection."

"Fine, fine," said Jeremy as soon as he saw her. "But can we do this later? My friend just got here and yes, Damon, I actually have some. I'll call you when I'm done."

"Jer," Elena started to say, turning around as Jeremy walked up to Catalina. "Damon! It's—"

Catalina kicked her leg out, sending Jeremy flying back into Elena, causing them both to fall to the ground. "So, I never got confirmation," she said, grabbing a bat from a nearby rack, "so I don't know who exactly killed Finn, but I do know that Sage was in your house when she died. Which means you're the guilty party."

"Woah, woah, woah," said Damon, backing up as she got closer. "This doesn't need to get ugly."

"What the hell is going on?" asked Jeremy, stumbling up. "Cat, what—"
