The world was passing her by.

It was very strange, being stuck on the Other Side. Everything took on a blue-green hue. All colors were faded, and every scene, day or night, became darker than before. She couldn't see Kol's spirit anywhere, but she could see his body, laying beside her own.

Klaus was furious. Whether it be only because Kol died, or because she did, too, she didn't know. She figured it was the former.

He'd picked up his phone, hand trembling slightly as he dialed Elijah's number. Catalina figured that, since Stefan had likely been in on this, he would break the news to Rebekah.

"Brother," came Elijah's voice. "What is it?"

"Kol is dead," said Klaus lowly.

"What?"

"He's dead. He's dead and I am trapped inside the Gilbert House with his body and Catalina's."

"I am on my way—"

"No!" spat Klaus. "Stay far from here, Elijah! I won't lose another brother. I'm unsure how long I will remain here. As soon as I get out, we will talk. For now, do not come here. I will inform you if anything changes."

He hung up, and hung his head, staring at the floor.

"Catalina."

She heard a mere whisper of her name. She frowned, and followed the sound. In an instant, she was in France, where Elijah was currently living. Apparently, he'd been the one to say her name.

"Yes, Rebekah," he said, now on call with his sister. "Stefan is not lying to you. Kol and Catalina are indeed dead."

"This cannot be happening," said Rebekah. "They can't be dead. This is all Nik's fault!"

"Is it? I do not wish to put the blame on anyone. However, you were the one who called Kol to Mystic Falls. You cannot blame Niklaus unless you blame yourself as well. You and I were bystanders as we let him ruin Kol's life. We are all guilty."

Rebekah was momentarily silent. "What the hell do we do, then?"

"Niklaus is trapped inside the house. No doubt, Kol and Catalina's bodies will have to be removed by someone with access to the building. Make sure someone— whether it be a compelled human or a vampire you turned— is able to get the bodies for us. I will not have strangers burying them."

"Alright. What will you be doing in the meantime?"

"I will consult a witch, and find out whether the spell that is trapping Niklaus in there can be removed."

"Catalina."

Another person whispered her name. She moved only a few steps before she appeared inside the Salvatore Boarding House.

"Catalina died," Bonnie was saying. "That means Kol's sireline is gone, too."

"But the mark isn't growing," said Jeremy, his sleeves rolled up. "It didn't work."

"Where's that Gilbert optimism?" asked Damon as he entered the room. He held his hands up in surrender. "Compulsion's gone."

Elena, who'd been standing near her brother, smiled at him before going to hug him.

"Sorry I missed all the excitement," said Damon. "Good riddance to Kol and Catalina."

The door opened, and Stefan arrived, carrying a rock. "Looks like I didn't miss much," he commented. "Damon... being disrespectful as always."

Damon scoffed. "You don't know what it's like to be on the receiving end of torture from those two."

Stefan didn't seem to care about this. "In case you forgot... you started that."
