Starsky and Hutch: Too Close To Home

The Second Call

Hutch was sitting there in shock over this whole thing. Bri was on the phone with Charlie, Jonathan was in the kitchen with Max and I think he is just trying to not lose it in front of all of us. I can't imagine what Starsky is going through or this whole family. I know I'm having a hard time with it but this family. No, I can't do this anymore. I stood up and ran out the front door. Callie was right behind me as I leaned against the car. She started rubbing my back as I started to cry. I turned around, laid my head on her shoulder as I put my arms around her waist. We both just cried as we held onto each other. You see, we got here right before they played the recording of the call that they just had gotten. I watched Mrs. Hart helped Starsky to the couch. He looked awful, he looked so tired, sick and pale. I wish I could help by taking this pain from him but I can't. I just stood there in Callie's arms as we both cried. "It hurts Callie," I said very softly into her neck. She put her hand in my hair as she said, "I know honey. But we will get Angel back very soon." I just held her tighter not really knowing what to say or do at this point.

Meanwhile with Angel:

I woke up to a bright light in my face and a headache that would kill anyone. I blinked more than once to try to get my eyes adjusted to light. I tried to move only to find out that I was all tied up. I couldn't go anywhere and it smelled so bad wherever I was. I tried to turn my head to look around but the smell and light was making me feel sick to my stomach. I turned my head just in time as I started to throw up. It just kept coming and coming. That was when I found out that my whole body was in pain. Just then I heard a door open up, footsteps that were walking toward me and stopped right above me. "Oh, look who got sick." I heard a man's voice as my whole body tensed up knowing who it was. "Looks like someone will need a bath." he said as I wanted to cry. Not that I thought as I passed back out.

Back at the Hart's house:

Jennifer got David to lay down, she rubbed his back while he cried himself to sleep. Once I knew he was sound asleep, I got up slowly and left the room to go back downstairs. I saw that Hutch and Callie were outside, so I walked into the living room. I saw Bri on the phone, so I walked into the kitchen where I found Jonathan with Max. I just walked over to Jonathan, put my head on his chest with arms around him and cried. He held me close as he started to cry as well. This is so hard on all of us but I don't know how much more I can take. I want my daughter back so bad, I hate that she has to go through this all over again. Once we both calmed down we heard Bri walk into the kitchen. "Do I need to come back?" She asked as she looked at us. I can tell she is holding back the tears, Angel has been a sister to her from day one and I can't imagine how she is holding it all together. "No, you are fine Bro. What is up?" Jonathan answered her.

"I just got off the phone with Charlie, he wanted me to let you know that he will pay the ransom. No one messes with his girls is what he told me. Kris will bring the money in a few hours, if that is okay with you?" She told us. "Yes that is fine and thank Charlie for us." Jonathan said all choked up. Bri smiled before she walked out of the kitchen. "Max, if Hutch and Callie want to stay with us, will you get a room ready for them? I'm going to bed." Jennifer said as looked at Max. Jennifer left the kitchen, headed upstairs and before she went to her bedroom, she looked in on David only to find him still sleeping. She then went into her bedroom, sat on the bed as she said, "Hang on Angel, help is coming and stay strong."

Jonathan walked into the living room after watching his wife go upstairs. He is at for words on how he feels at this point. Bri was sitting on the couch looking down as Jonathan walked over to her. "How are you doing?" he asked her before he sat down. "I'm hanging in there sir. It is hard but I know we have to stay positive about all of this." She answered with a weak smile. "We will get her back soon," he said as Bri nodded at him. Just then the front door opened as Hutch and Callie walked back into the house. They both sat on the opposite couch. "Anything," Hutch asked as his voice cracked. Callie put her hand on his back and rubbed it in hopes it would help keep him calm. Jonanth shook his head no as Max walked into the living room. "I have made some sandwiches, coffee and tea if anyone would like some." he said "Coffee sounds good," Jonathan said as everyone else nodded at that. After Max went to go get the coffee Jonathan looked at Hutch and Callie. "You are both welcome to stay here if you wish." he said just as Max walked back into the room. "Thank you sis, we would appreciate that." Hutch said as he took his cup of coffee. "Max, please get the second guest room ready for the Hutchinson's please." Jonathan said. "Right away sir," he answered and then left to go get it done.
