Lara

I was wondering around Doctor Smiths lab waiting for his wife Josephine to come back with some tea. Although Dr. Smith is a doctor his wife is the wiser of the two. She has been helping me collect information about my kind for the past few days and quiet honestly she is fun to hang around.

I was sitting on one of the lab stools completing one of my assignments when Dr Smith walked in with a worried look on his face.

"What's wrong Dr-" I began but was cut off by him slamming a letter on the work top in front of me.

"They know about you! They will have our heads! Make haste for if they know of your whereabouts they will have your head on a stake before the morning sun greets us." He said panicked.

I started to read the letter in question.

    Dear Lord and Lady Smith

You have been invited as an honorable guests to this years spring jubilee.

You are welcome to bring your adopted fledgling.

See you at moons peak of the full moon.

I could not help but let out a small giggle that slow turned into a laugh.

"Have you gone mad!' Dr Smith shouted.

But I could not stop laughing.

Mrs Smith had come downstairs maybe because of the commotion.

"What is the matter?" She asked calmly.

" Help me Josephine she's gone barking mad!" Dr Smith shouted pointing at me.

My laughing fit had subsided and I stood there with just a sinister grin on my face.

"Oh stop waving your hands about like a dandy. Now tell me Lara what is the matter. You too Charles tell me what is the matterm" Josephine said as she looked between the two of us.

"The king knows about Lara they invited us to the spring jubilee we are truly dead now yet she is amused by the situation." Dr Smith said.

"The king knew of my existence since I was two weeks old. He killed the man who turned me and the rest of my...."I stopped. Should I say family? Clan? Caretakers? Abductors?

"The king and I are not on good terms."I said.

The pale couple looked me with worry painted on their beautiful faces.

"Perhaps Dr Smith is right I should leave you."I said.

"No." Mrs Smith said as she walked to quickly. She held my hands tightly as if I were slipping away. Her bright green eyes looked at me with desperation. I had never seen her like this. My heart began to feel that gaping hole grow once more.

"I will kill your king the next time I see him. It's best you keep your distance from me." I said feels tears pool in my eyes

I grabbed my laptop and bag then zoomed in an unatural speed to my dorm.

Inside I was burning. With hatred. With anger. With grief but most of all with longing.

Crying in my room again I started to realize that I want to get rid of that pompous prick who called himself king.

" A ball you say." I said looking at my self in the mirror.

I know that tomorrow is a full moon.

However I don't know where it is.

I took out oneof my best dresses that I had and looked at it.

It was a red silk slip on dress with gold chain straps it reached the floor and I wore it at my cousin's wedding when I still lived in South Africa.

I need to make this dress functional. I began with cutting a slit for easy running. I fashioned a garder belt out of some fabric I found in the bottom of my wardrobe. I went into my roommates room and took a letter opener and a clutch bag. I mean she's lucky I am only stealing from her.

I ended up cutting a hole in the pocket so I could reach in and grab the weapon.

I looked in the mirror. My lipstick was a subductive red which matched the dress my hair curled and edges done I grabbed the letter opener and put it in place then with clutch and keys in hand I left my dorm.
