Lara
After a few days in the dungeon the guards informed me that I was to have an audience with the king.
I was told that the king had a lovely gift for me in the grand dining hall.
As I walked in I saw him sitting on a blood red chair at the end of a long table " Why if it isn't our young heroine, pity I have to end your life here but I think you will enjoy the pain, after all, I don't intend on allowing you to die peacefully " he smirked as his eyes turned red. "Do you intend to be an ass for the rest of your immortal life your highness" I said
I was swiftly met with a hit on the head from one of the guards.
"I should thank you for saving my life but something tells me that you were saving that dagger for me, I would thank you for being so courteous , however you are a danger to the throne and even with your blood being equal to that of a royal, you have no leader and no governance. How could we trust you. You are like the locust." He said. He then stood up from his seat and that was when I took his physical appearance in for the first time.
He shoulders were broad but when I follow the lines from his shoulder down to his pecks and towards his waist it tapers in creating an upsidedown triangle. He was wearing a white shirt under his waist coat which made my mind wonder off.
While I had been gawking at the king he had made his way down the dining hall and now stood in front of me.
"You are dismissed." He said to the guards who were apprehensive about the idea at first but eventually left.
" And that was the lecture I received from my dowager countess this morning Lady Lara." He said as he took a step towards me. We now we're holding deep eye contact.
"However my thoughts seemed to meander to the image of you that night." He said now almost flush against me.
"I want to touch you." He whispered to me his hands were reaching for my face but did not touch me they hovered. He was asking for permission.
"You may."I answered. I was in a trance. His eyes had trapped me and I could not find my way out of this very small sense of pleasure but tension and hate burned with it equally.
His hands made contact with my face and I could not help but Lean into his warm hands as he began to caress my cheeks. He looked at me with such wonder and affection I would forget his transgressions towards me. However this fire burned inside me and he seemed to rile the flames even more.
"Stop." He whispered again.
"I haven't done anything"I whispered back.
"Lady Lara I ask you to release my heart from your painful confinements. I have never hated yet loved a creature in this was before. Tell me you hate me tell me why you saved me that night. Lie to me if you must but tell me you hate me." He said.
I wanted to tell him that I hated him with every fiber of my being but when I looked at him seeing the way he was tortured by his feeling made me realize. If I wanted to make the king's life miserable I just have to love him.
"I burn with hatred and resentment towards you but part of me wants you is drawn to you. I feel like a moth drawn into a flame. Yes I want to kill you but part of me wants to-" I didn't get to finish.
"No!" His voice boomed in through the hall.
He was now walking around me. He stood behind me his arms slid around my shoulders.
"You and I will only cause trouble for each other." He said as he rested his head upon my shoulder.
"You are a halfwit moron your highness if you think that telling me that while showing me affection wil change my answer. Tell me your highness how many of your rivals have you held in such a loving embrace."I said as I felt chils run down my spine.
"I want you to know that I have intention of courting you. You're independence and combat skills are as charming as your grace and beauty." He said.
I was taken aback by his words.
Before I could say anything the door was open and the king had moved to his side of the table just in time for the person to walk in.
It was the man who I killed at the jubilee but he was alive and cuffed and chained with multiple guards around him.
"How is he still alive!" I said.
When the man heard my voice he sharply lifted his head to look at me then growled and snarled as he tried to lunge at me but the guards held him back.
"A stainless steel blaid could never kill a vampire no matter how weak they are." The king said.
I looked at the vampire who was acting like a rabid dog.
I whistle at him which caused the king to let out a brief laugh.
"As entertaining as this is we have a trial to begin." The king said now moving his green eyes between the two of us.
"Lord Byron plead your case." The king said gesturing his long slim fingers towards the man
Lord Barkface was brought to his knees just adjacent of me. He was panting and trembling and that was when I noticed a key difference between the two of us. Lord Barkface was chained up with multiple chains and cuffs while I only had handcuffs. Interesting.
"You highness I was attacked by this- feral fiend!" He said with a trembling voice.
"Your highness your dog went rabid and tried to kill you." I said.
Lord Byron was about to say something when the king interrupted.
"Lady Lara are you implying you wanted to save my life that night." The king said astonished
"Yes in some way I did. Not because I was feeling heroic but because I was well aware of the fact that if you had died by someone else's hand I would not feel any satisfaction. So please your majesty stay alive until I kill you." I said with a elegant curtsey at the end.
The guards were shocked at my words and so was Lord Barkface.
"Then I will my lovely subject so long as you prove your loyalty to me." The King said.
"Why would I do that? Let's not forget the fact that you killed the coven I belonged to and you would have killed me too if I hadn't narrowly escaped that night. Your highness you continue to treat me like a flower in your court." I said. I was now standing in a position that gave me good leverage to luanch myself at the king.
"Then what are you if not a flower in my court Lady Lara?" The king ask.
"Your own personal grim reaper." I said as I luanched myself at the king.
However once I was arms length away he grabbed the chain between the cuffs and used that as leverage to push me back. I landed on the table with him on top of me.
"Cheer up my little bringer of death. I know you are dangerous. You are like Bela Dona to me. However dearest reaper I need your loyalty to not slaughter you like the pig over there." He said as he pulled me up to sit on the table.
I can't lie that made me feel something.
"If I pledge my loyalty to you doesn't that mean that I would be betraying my coven making me disloyal." I said now gazing into his eyes.
He looked at his guards who were now standing around us ready to apprehend me.
"Get Lady Lara into the fledglings cloak and prepare for the pig to be... Well dealt with." He said then let go of the chain and look at me with his beautiful eyes.
" My grim reaper I am afraid duty calls for you." He said as he gave my hand a kiss. His eyes were locked on to mine the entire time. I was flabbergasted by that bloody kiss. It was so graceful and deliberate I could not help my mind to stop wondering to different places.
