Lara

The door sprung open and he barged in.

"Lara you are too willful." He said fuming. He kinda looks cute like that.

"But your highness I'm *caughs* sick. Please excuses my *caugh* rudeness." I hacked.

"Lara. Behave accordingly. I have serious matters to discuss. I don't have time for your act." Adonis warned. I didn't care.

"I'm not *caugh* acting" I said.

Well time to push the antics up a bit.

I pretended to struggle to get out of bed and began to pretend to faint however Adonis had caught me before my dramatic decent.

I 'stabled' myself then attempted to get out of his grasp. He did not let me go.

I looked up at him in confusion.

"If you are too sick to walk then I will carry you." He said.

Adonis then proceeded to put his arm on my mid back and the other behind my knee then lifted me with ease. Effectively carrying me bridal style.

He carried me out of the room and down the halls - halls littered with other vampires, who watched in aw and confusion- and finally to the throne room.

"A chair for the duchess." He ordered as we walked in.

Quickly a velvet red chair, well mini throne considering how ornate it was, was placed a few paces Infront of the throne.

Adonis carefully sat me in the chair.

My brother was right behind me.

"I hope you have a plan because I don't even know what is going on." My brother whisper in my ear.

Within moments the room was filled with vampires like last night.

"Duchess Arlington you are brought before the royal court for murder and treason." The old man said.

Ohh! That's why I am here. Looks like I have to scheme my way out of this one.

But how is the question. Most of the court dose not like me so I need to come clean with what I know so they understand my perspective.

"Would you like to explain yourself?" The old man asked.

" Yes. I was turned by a man named Gabriel. That's one. For a while I believed I was taken in and trained by his coven. Two. I believed that the king and his men had suddenly attacked and massacred that so called coven. Three. I escaped and was attacked by wolves. Four. I woke up in a hospital and was luckily treated by a vampire. Five. I was invited to a ball. Six. I tried to assassinate who I thought had killed the coven I was apart of. Seven." I began.

I looked at my brother because I heard his heart beat quicken briefly. He looked upset. I gave him a reassuring smile.

"My mother had finally found her daughter and she cured me of my hypnosis and I realized, two, three, four,  never happened." I continued.

"That's my explanation for the treason bit. I would like to add that in my clarity I fell in love." I said looking at Adonis.

"As for murder. Those advisors and court members were.... Becoming a mutiny. I have witness to prove that." I ended.

It was quite. Adonis looked at me with an expression that I can't quite read.

"So you admit that you work for that traitor Gabriel?" A man asked in the crowd.

"No. I hold no loyalty to him." I responded.

"And how is that possible? Is he not your maker!" A woman yelled. Others agreed with her.

"If you must know when Lara was turned she consumed two vampires blood, that's what makes her a reaper. Historically reapers have been known to kill their makers if they are oppressed by their makers. With that knowledge is it not safe to assume Lara will also not have the tie between her maker like other vampires." My brother answered. I see why mom sent him now.

"How could we be sure she won't try to assassinate the king again?" Asked the same man from earlier.

"You can be assured because..." My brother started but stopped and a shocked expression flashed through his face for a moment.

"They... Have... Connected their life lines." He finished slowly.

There was a roar of confusion and appall that filled the great room. I too was confused.

"What does that mean?" I asked my brother confused.

"It means that if he dies you die, if he bleeds you bleed. You know like one life... Together... The both of you." He said somberly.

I looked at Adonis and he looked shaken up.

"Well it seems we received the answers we so desperately wanted." The old man anounced. The room became silent again.

"Duchess Arlington you may return back to you normal life it seems. Is anyone in opposition?" He continued. It was still quite. No one spoke.

"Well that is it. Thank you for your time Duchess." The old man said.

"You are all dismissed." Adonis said authoritatively.

The vampires began to file out of the room as quickly as they filed it up.

I heard many disgruntled murmurs and comments on their way out.

Adonis stood up from his throne and in a stark contrast to yesterday's actions he picked me up yet again and began taking me back to my room.

He placed on the now neatly made bed.

"Did you have the same dream?" He asked.

"The greenhouse?" I asked.

"Yes." He responded.

"Yes" I responded.

"What now?" I asked.

"We have to stay together until we find a way to break it" he said.

"How did this happen?" I asked.

"I don't know." He answered.

He grabbed a blanket that was placed on a stool in the far side of the room and covered my with it.

"Is there anything you know." I said sarcastically. He did not react. He just started pacing.

"Adonis." I called him. He still didn't react. He just kept pacing.

"Adonis?" I called again same result.

I stood up from the bed and stopped him in his tracks putting my hands on his shoulders.

"What's with you? What happened to you?" I asked him, looking at the panic in his eyes.

"You happened to me. Ever since I met you, I have almost died Twice I have been berated for something I played no part in. Lara. YOU are the reason I am falling apart at the seams. You are sent by my uncle to poison me, and you are wining. And yet I am still... I am still..." He said.

"I'm sorry." I said softly.

"What?" He asked.

"Nothing. Pull yourself together. You are a king remember." I said quickly.

There was an awkward silence that fell over us for a while.

"Why do you want to marry me Lara?" Adonis asked.

"For status." I answered without hesitation.

"That's it?" He asked.

"No. You also taste scrumptious." I said winking at him.

"You are a vile woman." He remarked.

"Put some shoes on the floor is cold" he said as he exited the room.
