The King's Curse

A curse.

Lara

My mother was now back to her disappointed expression.
"You can't be serious mom! He kills innocent people! Mom! What would dad say?" I half yelled.

My mother stood up abruptly from her chair, an angry look on her usual calm features. I knew that I should have watched my tongue when I saw that expression.

"I'm sorry." I quickly said as she moved to leave the room. I didn't want her to leave. Part of me wanted her to hold me in her arms as she pats my back to her soothing rythem.

"For what?" She said in sharp tone.

"Raising my voice." I said lowering my head in shame.

She sighed and reclaimed her former position on the wooden chair Infront of me.

I heard a snicker come from the doorway. It was him again.
"Wow Agatha. She is your polar opposite. I would love to meet your husband now." He said entering the room.

I glared while my mom giggled.

Her face went back to bring serious again and she looked at me with concern. "Lara can you tell me who cursed you?" My mom asked now warmly grasping my hands.

"What are you talking about mom?" I said as my mind raced to try and figure out what she was talking about.

"Lara, when you were turned someone fed you Adonis's blood as your first feed instead of human blood. Additionally they bewitched you so please tell me how you met your maker and don't miss a single detail, okay." Mom said.

I told her my entire encounter up until now.

"I see." She said.

"See what? I didn't do those things. I met her that night she was out in that dress." He said with a confused look on his face.

What is going on.

"Lara baby, I gave you a concoction so that you can break the bewitchment. I need you to keep a level head if you want to survive this." She said now tightening her hands around mine. "I thought it was a light bewitching at first but I don't know if you can handle it." She said with worry painted on her face.

"Mom. What are you talking about?" I asked shaken.

" When you want for something you must pay for it." She said grimly. Then it came back to me. She was telling me the same line she tells all her clients.
That if you want something you must pay with blood.

"Mom you can't seriously be-" I couldn't finish my sentence. I began to throw up a black bitter substance. I was gasping for air as I was heaving over the side of the bed then it all went back.

"Gabriel are you sure about this?" I heard a woman say. I am not sure what was going on but at this moment it was all coming together. Gabriel was maker therefore the one who placed the curse on me. Why? I don't know him nor any vampire. Why me? I saw that the scenes of when they were murdered flash before me but now I realize that I am lying on a soft surfaces as a emeralds orb sways before me. I was being hypnotized to believe that I lost a coven to Adonis. My brain felt scattered. If this is fake then what is real.

I shoot up to my mom drying my upper lip with a damp cold cloth and Adonis looking at me with concern and curiosity.

"That was quick." My mom remarked.

"I was Hypnotized." I whispered.
"I was hypnotized" I whispered again.
"Nothing is real I was just a puppet. Mom I was hypnotized." I said now breaking into a sob.

I felt empty and cold suddenly.

"I know baby. When I drew your blood I realize three main scents: your's, your  'maker' and Adonis so I thought you had to have been some sort of pawn used to try kill Adonis. It's not your fault." She said gently while running her hands through my now straight hair.

She turned to Adonis "why did you let her try and kill you?" My mother asked.

"I just thought she liked me but had a funny way of showing it." He said.

"Men are idiots." My mom sighed. I giggled at her comment.

'' I think Lara and I should go back home for a while. Until she can get her mind together and then maybe she can come back for the winter semester to continue her studies. Is that ok?" She asked.

"Leaving so soon?" He asked.

My mom looked at me and I nodded a response weakly.

"It's settled then. Rest okay we can leave tomorrow." She said as she helped me lay down and covered me with a familiar blanket.

At this point I don't know what to think. I am just so confused. I just wanted to shut down. I felt overwhelmed. My brain was pulsating. All I want is peace and quiet.
