They were equally disturbed by the scene in front of them.

My mother still sobbing tilted here head back and she began to scream " Maria look at your child! She is just like you! How could you leave her to me!"

My mother grabbed my shoulders and began to shake me. "Why are you like her! Don't you dare go out there and die on me! You stupid child. Why are you like her? Why are you like her? " She was starting to whisper her questions through sobs.

She looked at my father who's pupils had dilated he looks like he had seen a ghost. I had never seen that expression on my dad's face before. It creeped me out.

"Isn't she beautiful." She said stroking my hair with shaking hands and trembling breath.

"Don't you think she looks familiar my love." She said.

My dad was frozen in place.

I looked over to my mom and she had a nosebleed. It seemed to not occur to her, perhaps she was using up her energy but she had only pushed my brother and I away and had don't nothing else. So what was going on?

"Ma." I said now reaching for her face but just like that she faints into my arms.

There is silence.

Dead silence.

Nothing moved. Not even the leaves in the trees outside.

Just silence.

"Ma." I said as I shook her softly.

Before I could make and more attempts at waking her up she was ripped from my arms by my brother and I was shoved aggressively into the wall behind me by my father.

"Baba?" I whispered out confused.

"YOU ARE NOT MY CHILD YOU BLOOD SUCKING FIEND!" He yelled in my face.

He looked so... Angry. I had never saw that much anger displayed on my dad's face. His blood vessels seemed to be bursting through his gentle brown skin.

He's breath was laboured and I could hear his heartbeat, it was a quick and unstable beat.

Then I processed what my dad had just said to me.

He called me a blood sucking fiend. He saw me as a threat. He saw me as nothing more than another vampire he had to slay.

"Dad wait it's not what it looks like." I desperately tried to explain as tears built in my eyes.

My mind caught in this web of confusion and madness I attempted to plead my case to my father.

"I may be a vampire but I don't drink human blood. Dad I am-" my plea fell on def ears because my father had decided that in that moment where I had shown weakness he would take the opportunity to plunge a stake straight into my chest.

At first I was in shock but I felt a warmth run through me and for a moment it felt like my dead heart had began to beat.

I pushed my dad away from me which resulted in him going flying across the room into the opposite wall with a very graphic and disturbing crack. Perhaps he broke a rib.

I looked at the scene before me. My mother still unconscious in my brother's arms and my father leaning against the wall clutching his ribs looking at me with nothing but hate in those same eyes that used to look at me with care and love.

I did not belong there anymore.

I ran out of the door before anything else could happen, before I could ruin anything else.

I had reached the Kwazulu Natal and Eastern Cape boarder when I started to feel weak.

I started to pull out the stake. With every inch I pulled out the more pain coursed through my body, like a thousand ants biting my entire body all at once.

With a loud scream I finally pulled out the stake. For a moment my head was spinning from the pain. I felt like I was going to pass out. I drop to my knees however I didn't faint. Instead I felt this cold and icy sensation ripple through my body from the injury near my heart to the tips of my fingers and toes.

I could feel the wound bound back together. It felt like I was being stuck back together by cold wet glue. I began to feel dizzy again. Something was swelling up in my throat. I was nauseated then I threw up. It was a slippery goopy substance.

I was still dizzy even after throwing up. Then for the millionth time these past few weeks I passed out. I should buy a fainting couch at this point.

I could smell a soft vanilla scent on the person who was carrying me and at the same time a cinnamon scent on another person who was close by. I don't know who they are but I do know that they were vampires.
