I am a coward

Lara's POV

Then in walked 10 men dressed in gold armor with swords drawn ready to fight. They surrounded us in all directions and while I was looking around for a weapon, a tall pale man with black hair and bright gold eyes the same color as mine walked in he was wearing the same gold amour except the crest on his breastplate was copper. He also wore a gold crown on his head.

"Why good morning my dear friends," he said as he walked in with confidence and a sly smile on his face but when our eyes locked I felt warm, safe and drawn in. What is going on?

The next thing I know everyone is kneeling in front of him except me.

"Has no one thought you manners? bow," he commanded but something in me took over giving me a rush of confidence.

"No," I said wait am I about to challenge him, the king. This is fun!

"Excuse you!" he shouted making everything quiver but me I just returned the sly smile and repeated what I said

"No" I repeated confidently it was almost like I had no control over my body.

"Grab her" he commanded again. Two soldiers stood and came towards me and before they could make it to me Gabe quickly came and stood in front of me

"I am sorry Your majesty she is still new to this she is only a day old," Gabe said with his head bowed in respect.

"Grab him," the king said.

Two of them grabbed Gabe and made him kneel in front of the king while one grabbed a chair for the king to sit on. when he sat down he looked down at Gabe with a disapproving look.

"Gabe, Gade, Gabe friend you have failed me. What should I do with you? huh?"  he said while pulling out his sword.

"Lara Kill him" Gabe commanded and before I could even think I ran straight for the king but before I could reach him, he decapitated Gabe my body filled with this unknown hate and desire for revenge. So I pounced at the king and grabbed his neck but I just couldn't seem to have it in me to kill him. So I ended up sobbing in my enemies chest.

What the fuck is wrong with me.

I want to avenge Gabe but in his arms I was weak I felt like melting butter.

The moment I took a deep breath in an amazing scent filled my nose it smelled like vanilla cake, it smelt sweet but not too sweet and for the second timed today I acted without thinking, I bit the king's neck. I don't know why but felt so good but that did not last long enough. 

I am ripped away from the  King as quick as I pounced at him. Honestly, I am surprised that the guards even reacted, I mean what were they doing when I was attacked him.

Now I'm pinned against the opposite wall by 4 guards but I still wanted more I felt as if someone had taken my food away after one bite.

"What are you?" the king asked while he held his neck where I bit him.

"She is a vampire, Your majesty," Eddy answered with his head bowed but I could feel the panic in his voice as if we have anything to hide.

"Pray tell What type of vampire is the young miss?" the king asked leaning forward with interest.

"She is a repellant my lord" Jake said his head was also bowed with respect but I can't find any part of me that sees him as higher than me, in fact, I feel like we are equals.

"Interesting I would have sworn the last of that kind had passed on," the king said as if he were unsure.

"Kill them all," he commanded calmly.

I trashed and tried to get out of their grip but all my efforts were useless and I watched as the only people I knew in this dark world were slaughtered like chickens.

I have never seen a dead person in my life and this is too much. 

The blood. It was everywhere. The screams echoed in my head. The smell of metallic blood which would entice me now disgust me. The scene before me made me weak so my thrashing about had weakened and came to a halt.

By the time they had finished, I was screaming and sobbing mess.

" BAKWENZENI?!" I screamed in Zulu (what did they do to you)

Everyone looked confused I knew none of them understood South African languages so I repeated it in English.

"What did they do?" I said with a lower voice almost losing it.

"What did they do?" I said softly sobbing.
