Brothers are annoying

Lara

As Adonis left the room my brother squeezed in.

"Trouble in paradise." He said, 

"Votsek" I responded sharply. Translation: F* off 

He giggled at my response. I took a very sharp breath in as I took in my current situation.

"How do you know about the lifelines thing anyway? How is mom? How is dad? Does he still want me dead or well nonexistent? When did you get here?" I began to question him.

"Wow phola bruu." He responded pulling a chair to the bed and sitting down. Translation: chill 

"Mom is doing fine she is just in a coma. Don't worry it's just a physical coma. You see mom has linked her conscious to mine so that's how I got the info about you and Adonius's lifelines. She is hiding from dad until he cools down. So yeah, he still wants you dead. " He explained as he swung back and forth in the chair.

We sat in a comfortable silence for a while. I looked out the window to admire the cloudy sky and the barely visible moon. Just like how I used to when I was still human.

"You know you look so weird as a vampire." my brother suddenly quipped.

"What do you mean by that" I asked.

"You know, your eyes look so different the way you look at people changed, even the way you walk. It's like someone stole my sisters body transformed it and stood in front of me like 'here didn't you miss your sister' I miss you Lara." he said as he stopped swinging and hung his head.

With a shaking voice he said "I just want everything to go back to the way it was. To go back home to you and mom singing Luther Vandross in the lounge. I want to see your dark brown eyes wake up in confusion when I ask you where my charger is every morning. I knew where it was every morning, but it was so funny waking you up to ask you. " 

I could hear the pain in his voice as he fought back tears.

"I'm not really dead though you can still talk to me and touch me and prank me and be the world's most annoying brother." I said trying to comfort him.

"But you are not really there. I don't think you understand Lara. Dad is held your funeral months ago. To the family you are no longer with us. Dad forbids us from speaking about as if you are alive. I am here in secret but even though I see you, touch you, talk to you in the back of my mind I am constantly reminded about how I buried you a few months ago. You are no longer alive in my real world. You can only be alive in secret. Is that living to you?" he said as tears streamed down his face.

I was silent.

"Dad... Buried...Me." I said in a voice slightly above a whisper.

My brother opened the palm of his hand and in it was a tiny picture, so small I didn't even know you could print one that small.

In the picture was my family and friends somberly standing in front of a tombstone. " A daughter, a sister, a friend, a close confidant. Here lies the beloved Lara Shabalala. May she rest in peace." it read.

I felt a sharp stab in my chest as it began to tighten, and emotion rose in my throat choking me. I was on my knees clutching the picture in one hand and my chest in the other. My body began to shake as sobs tore through me.

We cried. In that beautiful room with ornate decorations and beautiful decorations. We sobbed.

"Mom wanted you to know that the lifeline way probably a byproduct of the method that was used to turn you. Also, that you should be more careful in the future. Lillith." he said as he whipped his tears and stood up straightening himself and preparing to leave.

Lilith.

What?

"What do you mean?" I asked looking up at him.

"Goodbye Lilith." my brother said as he bent down and kissed my forehead.

He turned and walked towards the door.

"No." I said fighting tears yet again.

He kept walking.

"NO. Please. Please don't leave me. Please Please. No. NO. No no please no." I panicked as I grabbed on to his leg and hung on as if it was the only way to keep him near me. It was.

He whispered a spell under his breath and just like that my grip weakened and he opened the door and left closing it behind him. Leaving me. Never looking back. 

I was alone.

Alone.

Truly alone.
