Chapter 17: Boss Babe

June 3rd 2017, 9h17 am

I wake up still tired. I usually don't wake up this late. Babe sent me a text about half an hour ago. He wanted to grab some breakfast at Kora's. Maybe it's not too late. Let's see. I text him back and wait for a reply. He already ate. That's too bad. I just make myself a bowl of cereals.  Then, I hop in the bath tub. I put some rosemary and lavender essential oil in the water with a splash of Epsom salts. While in there, I keep thinking about king Nathan and the way he spoke to me the other day. I wonder if he feels the connection too, or he's just manipulating me. The more I think about it, the more I realize I have a little something for him but I just can't explain it. But the thing is, I'm with Babe. And let's not forget about Antoine. I think I may just be confused more than anything else. They love playing with my heart, those Darkanen ... 

Joanna texts me later to let me know about her plan. She wants to throw Nathan a birthday party on the 8th of June, in secret. We would only invite Babe since he's the only one who knows about his identity. No one should know. Joanna and I go shopping for chocolates, drinks and chips in the afternoon for the party, but still trying to not look suspicious. At least we already have the DJ. 

I also let my job know that I'm pregnant. To be honest, I though it would go well, but it didn't. I wanted to start my maternity leave in a bit later, but I checked the next weeks schedule and they gradually removed some of my shifts to give it to the ''seniority'', like at the daycare. I thought working in mental health, it would be different. Or maybe I'm just not good enough. 

June 8th 2017, 7h34 pm 

Here we are, in the castle's ballroom again. This time, we are celebrating the king's 28th birthday. In his honor, Babe plays a lot of trance and metal music. He seems very happy tonight. We all bought him a little gift. Babe played his favorite song, ''Click click boom'' from Saliva several times during the evening. Nathan asks for ''Killing me slowly'' by The wolves, a slow metal song. He looks at me the entire time, even though the lyrics don't even relate to us. Like he wants to tell me something. 

The evening goes pretty well. We all have fun. Babe shows off his funny dance moves. Joanna is still so excited to see her son. 

Nathan: Thank you for all of this. It's perfect. Better than I ever imagined. I never experienced anything close to this before. I appreciate. 

Joanna: We figured. It's our pleasure.

We end up putting  the big screen on and watch the two ''Ghostbusters'' movies. We just can't stop laughing. Nathan is not very far from me. Babe is holding my hand and wants to cuddle. Ti-Beeby, her, she just can't stop moving inside my belly. I can feel the king's energy from here. Joanna is focusing on the movie while enjoying her popcorn. Everything's good tonight. No drama, nothing like that. 

Before we leave, the king thanks us for the party.  

Nathan: Crystal, what's going on? 

Crystal: I only have 10 hours at work for the next two weeks. 

Nathan: How come? 

Crystal: They say it's a budget thing and they give the clients to the seniority. It reminds me of the daycare. In other words, I told them I was pregnant. 

Nathan: Ah. I see. Did you like your job over there? 

Crystal: Well at first yes, but in the end I didn't feel appreciated much. By the clients yes, but the employees so much different than me. 

Nathan: What are you gonna do? 

Crystal: I'm gonna give it some time and if it doesn't change, I'm gonna look for another job. I'm going on maternity leave soon enough anyway.
