Chapter 13: Baby, Pull Me Closer

It's already been a week since I've learned that I'm pregnant. The second test confirmed it. I have been in denial for a while, but I will need to act and quick. I am living a real nightmare right now. My sister came to support me everyday. No one knows except for the thief. I wish I knew who the father is. I might have to abort if it's Antoine's, whether I like it or not. I can't put a mixed race baby into this world, us three would die. Joanna's son is the perfect example. The thing is, I can't tell my sister about Antoine and I. She thinks it's Babe's, but in reality it's probably closer to 50/50. I searched everywhere for the tests that tells who how far you are in your pregnancy, but there was none left. The holiday miracle my Aunt Laura was talking about, yay. 

Melody: So what are you gonna do about it? Did you tell Babe yet?

Crystal: I didn't tell anyone. 

Melody: How do you think he would react? 

Crystal: He wants children, but I don't. I'm not sure if he'd be okay with me aborting. What do you think our family would say?

Melody: Dad would probably force you to abort, but your adoptive parents would kill you if you do. It's up to you. 

Crystal: I have to tell Babe, he has the right to know... I just don't know how to. Isn't there an abortion pill on the market nowadays?

Melody: Yes, but you need a prescription here in Dreamland and you can only use it during the early pregnancy. You'd be how many weeks pregnant by now? 

That's the question I'm asking myself too. If you only knew. It might be two months already. I decide to call the planned parenthood to make an appointment and see from there. They can just take me in late January. I can't even get a hold on my doctor because he's on vacation until March 12. I might have a big problem here. I hope walk-in clinics can help me. 

Melody: They close at 4h30 around here, no chance. And we're Friday. Unless you wanna go to the emergency room and wait 8 hours? 

Crystal: No thanks. I'll go to the clinic on Monday. 

Later in the evening, Babe sends us a text asking me to meet him at the bar. I only saw him twice since I'm here and it was before I knew about the pregnancy. It will sure be awkward. If Antoine is there too, it will be even worse.

Yup, Antoine is here too. This will be a great night. Babe is not playing tonight, but he wanted to spend some time with me and Brittany. Melody decided to join, to his displeasure. Antoine spots me as soon as I come in. He turns back around when Babe gives me a big hug. 

Babe: Do you want a drink? 

Crystal: Euh, no thanks. 

Babe: We should celebrate your return. Brittany already started drinking. 

Crystal: Because it's Brittany. 

Babe: You didn't come out of your room much this week, why is that? 

Crystal: I worked on my story. 

Babe: I thought you were sick or something. 

Crystal: Oh no. 

Babe: Crystal, just stop it! 

Crystal: What? 

Babe: You don't need to lie to me.
