Chapitre 15: Ti-Beeby

Monday, May 15 , 2017-  Dreamland's Castle  

I am finally back in my own room. I don't think they noticed my presence. Well, it's official: the evil King, Nathan, is Joanna's long lost son. And he kept Malcolm away all this time. Maybe he truly is on our side. I still wonder how much he knows. My hands are shaking. I don't know how to tell Joanna. I call her on the phone, asking her to meet me at the Nebula Pond Sometime during the night, about 10 km from here, where it's more private. 

Nebula Pond, 3h09 AM. 

She arrives with a tired expression on her face. Her hair is all messy and she wears sweatpants. 

Joanna: It must be very important if you called to meet me here tonight. 

I just start crying from joy. I am so excited to tell her the great news. 

Crystal: Yes. I have some great news for you. But it must stay between us. I found your son and his father. They're still alive.

Joanna: What? How do you know? 

Crystal: I was in the king's bedroom trying to find the diary.  I looked in the closet and found some pictures hidden inside a drawer. I think it might be your son.

I show her the pictures. She starts crying.

Joanna: That's him. A mother just knows. I recognize those blue eyes. Wow, he looks like Babe.  So the king has the diary and the pictures. He must know too. Did you find anything else?

Crystal: Actually, I did. And it might shock you. 

Joanna: Does my son know who I am?

Crystal: He does now. Your son figured it all out by himself in the last days and he met Malcolm in secret to hear the truth from him. And there's even more secrets, it seems. 

Joanna: So you saw him with your own eyes? Where is he? 

Crystal: Malcolm called him Nathan. He lives among us. We see him almost every day. It's just that he wears a... 

We can hear something coming. It's probably just an animal. She changes the subject and starts talking about random stuff. The shadowy figure is coming closer. The moon is shining on the King's robe. Here comes the long lost Moonchild. Joanna and I both get up from the bench. He steps closer to us. Joanna runs to him and take him in her arms. 

They both realized what was happening. 

The king: Hi, Mom. 

Joanna: Hi, son. Moma is here for good. I'm not leaving your side ever again.

The King: I love you mom. I'm so sorry. I wish I knew sooner. 

Joanna: It's okay baby, we're together now. Your dad told you?

The King: I've been asking him for at least 28 years and I had to figure it all by myself. But yeah, he finally admitted it. You can call me Nathan. I'm pretty sure you both knew my name already. 

She looks at me and laughs. 

Joanna: At least your father chose a nice name that fits you. 

The King: I suppose. And it's okay, I'm just as sneaky as you two.  I got this from you and dad, obviously, and he pointed it out too. Same for you, Crystal. 

He puts his hand on my belly. He has a pretty weird reaction, not one that I expected. 

The King: My niece will be the sneakiest person in the entire world. 

We all start laughing. Pretty sure he's right. 

Crystal: So, you know about all this.

The king: Duh! How could I not notice the Ti-Beeby in there. Little Audrey is now bigger than a few cheeseburgers. Her Uncle cannot wait to see that little face. Babe is lucky to have you as a girlfriend too. Just saying.
