Chapter 20: Forbidden Love

A couple days have gone by since I discovered Nathan's true identity. It feels weird to know he's my boss at two places. He tries to still act the same around people to not make them suspicious, but when they're not around he sends me some winks. On a couple occasions I had to remind him that I'm still with Babe and that a relationship between us is forbidden. Especially when he leans very close to me. 

Antoine: That's what makes it exciting, terrible to say. 

Crystal: Stop. It's not a joke. It's reality. 

Antoine: I know. All I want to know is this - do you love me back? 

Crystal: I'm with Babe. 

Antoine: That's not the question. You tried for a long time to protect our daughter, but what about your heart? 

Branden comes in his office at the same time so we suddenly stop talking. Thank god because I don't know what to answer. For a long time I thought Babe was the father and I thought I was doing the right thing. We have a good complicity and friendship, but is it really love? 

I leave his office like nothing happened and go back to work. I look at Gabriel. He's so handsome with his spiky hairstyle and his big greenish eyes. We've been together for a long time too. I can't just throw it all in the air for a forbidden relationship, besides, cheating ain't my thing. Sometimes I feel like I'm not good enough for Babe. He does so much for me. He listens to all of my bad stories, he cooks, helps me with my car and is just always there in general. I can always rely on him. He's a good father too. He may be short but he knows how to kick asses and take care of us. He can be a bit too much into my space sometimes, but it doesn't change the fact that he's a wonderful person. I may like Antoine and feel a connection, but what if I'm mostly attracted to him physically? Like it's more of a fantasy than anything else? We were never truly together. What I have with Babe may not be what we call passionate, but I do feel like he's some sort of soulmate. We get along well and we have a great partnership. 

People starts to come in and I see Gabe putting even more work into it. The roof is on fire, as they sometimes say. The DJ is cute, it does help. Brittany comes to see me at the bar. 

Brittany: Hey, sup? 

Crystal: Hey. Not much, you? 

Brittany: Not much. Can I have a hard lemonade please? 

Crystal: yeah sure. 

She continues talking to me for a bit, about random stuff. She looks more calm tonight and there's no boy with her. 

Brittany: You know, I'm sorry for the way I treated you. You didn't deserve that. I was mad at life and I took it on you. Can we be friends again? 

Crystal: Of course we can 

Some tall blonde haired girl interrupts us for a drink. I'm glad Brittany and I can put our differences aside and be friends again. I can see Babe looking at us from far away, surprised. At 11h11, Antoine walks behind me and says, in my ear: 

Antoine: Make a wish, I made mine. 

I think Babe saw us because he looks uncomfortable. Deep down, I'm pretty sure he knows something is up. 

Antoine: What's up with you all of a sudden? Gabriel saw us? And? 

Crystal: Can you stop? Please. First of all you're my boss. Second you're a Darkanen. Third, I'm taken. Just stop. Did you send him the rose too, by chance? 

Antoine: What rose? 

Crystal: What? You didn't know about the rose? The package you gave me. 

Antoine: It was really a rose?
