Chapter 21: The Secret Admirer

December 8th 2019, 10h 29 

it's been almost a month now since Gabe decided to leave me. I still feel a big pain in my chest. We stayed friends, but it's just not the same. He usually just stops by to say hi to Audrey and that's it. Him and Brittany are now closer than ever. It's funny because Antoine and I could predict it. He keeps putting all the blame on me, but it seems as if he had something for her. When we look at the two of them interacting with each other, sometimes we could swear they're together. Am I jealous? Yes. I still love him. He spends most of his time with her. We used to be best friends. He still looks mad too and he keeps on saying I'll end up with Antoine anyway. 

Work feels very long tonight. Antoine is busy with his things and Babe flirts with her in front of everyone, like they're alone. I just try to ignore it. Antoine notices my pain and comes to comfort me.  

Antoine: Don't worry about it. He'll realize what he lost soon enough. 

Crystal: Thanks 

Antoine: I mean it 

I continue my work, trying to act like nothing is happening in front of me. Then, by surprise, a face I recognize appears at the bar. 

Jonathan: Hi beautiful 

Crystal: Hey what are you doing here? 

Jonathan: Your brother told me about this wonderful place and I just had to come and see for myself. 

Crystal: Do you like it so far? 

Jonathan: Yeah, a lot. It's so peaceful here compared to earth. 

I can feel Antoine's stare from behind us. 

Jonathan: Would you like to go for a coffee sometimes? Just to talk. I'd like to get to know you better, as a friend. If you'd like, of course. 

Crystal: Yeah sure. 

Jonathan: How about tomorrow at 7pm?  I'll pick you up

Nothing wrong with going for a coffee just to talk. It's not like it's a date. He did ask me out many times already though and I kept on refusing. I'd be happy to get to know him as a friend. Antoine keeps on looking at us. They look so much alike those two. 

December 9th 2019, 5h30 

Fast forward to the next day, I get a text from Jonathan. I expected something like the usual ''hey beautiful'' or talking about our plans for tonight, but he says he needs to cancel at the last minute. That guy asked me out so many times. Maybe he really has a good reason though. Was it out of revenge? Or maybe he heard about me and Babe and he's scared I would try to use him, but that's not my intention. Anyway. I just let it go and call grandma instead. I do a little bit of shopping too to change my mind. I buy myself some sweets and a few clothes. Brittany happens to be at the mall too. 

Brittany: Hey what's up? 

Crystal: Not much, what about you? 

Brittany: Living the dream. My crush just asked me out. 

Crystal: Oh. Well I'm happy for you. 

Brittany: Yeah it's new though. It's... Babe. You would probably have heard about it anyway. We have been chilling a couple times and he asked me on an official date for tomorrow. 

Crystal: That's cool. Hope it works. You both seem happy. Everyone saw it coming.

Brittany: I know, right? I mean...

Crystal: Your letter must have worked. 

Brittany: Nah, he made his own choice. 

Crystal: But it was you. Right?
