That's Not A Valid Reason

Spring break was over and it was the first day back at school after Tori and Jade's fight and the start of Tori and Beck's relationship. Tori and Jade both woke up and got ready, dreading the day ahead. Well, Jade more so than Tori.

The brunette finished getting ready and pranced downstairs, grabbing a piece of buttered toast from the plate on the dining table and wishing her mother a good day before leaving out the door. She got into her car and shut the door, resting her head on the steering wheel for a few seconds before leaving.

She got to the school parking lot and exited the car right at the same time she saw Jade's car pull up. Tori sucked in a deep breath and hurried into the school. She headed over to her locker and began shoving things into it while checking her timetable when she felt a pair of hands around her waist

"Hey you," the voice whispered, planting a kiss on her cheek.

She turned around and smiled at Beck behind her. He grinned back at her and handed her a cup of coffee.

"You ready?"

"As I'll ever be."

"They're our friends, they're sure to support us, right?"

Tori nodded slightly, still unsure of how the news would go down. The two of them had decided to wait until after spring break to tell their friends so every time they were invited out, they had to make some stupid excuse because they were with each other.

The past few days with Beck had been some of the best. Beck would take Tori out for dinner and then back to his place where they would sit and talk about the most random things, snack, cuddle or kiss. The talking came naturally because they were friends first so of course they could talk about anything. The snacking was fine too because they bonded over the same food.

But the touching...

Beck was a good kisser, of course he was. But for some reason, there was not much chemical attraction when it came to that aspect of their relationship. Tori was willing to do it and Beck never forced her but whenever they did, or tried to, Tori always felt too in her head and she couldn't put anything out of her mind.

Beck failed to notice this, however. He would pull away from her, panting lightly and staring at her with a hint of a smirk playing on his lips. Tori was just too nice to say anything to him about it. When they had gotten through their first five periods together, it was lunch and the whole gang was there.

This was the part Tori dreaded. Not so much Andre and the others' reactions but Jade's. She figured that they had cleared up whatever fight they had but still had this feeling that she was trying to push to the back of her mind. She didn't want Jade to be angry with her again. Tori didn't know if she could take it.

When everyone had gotten their food and gathered at the lunch table, Beck pushed his food aside and said that he had an announcement to make. Everyone stopped eating to look at him. Tori froze a little, gritting her teeth as she waited for him to say the words.

"Well, hurry up. I want to get back to my taco," Andre beckoned impatiently.

"So, the announcement is that," Beck paused for dramatic effect before sliding an arm around Tori's shoulders and pulling her closer to him,

"Tori and I are dating."

And with that, he turned the brunette to face him and kissed her deeply, leaning in and resting his hands on her waist. Everyone at the table was staring at them in stunned silence. When the kiss broke, the pair saw nearly everyone with their jaws hanging open. Everyone except Jade.

Jade was just staring at them - no - at her.  At Tori. Her eyes were curious, her jaw tensed. Tori caught her gaze and Jade parted her lips for a moment, like she was about to say something. Then she shook her head slightly and smiled at Tori before looking back down at her food and eating. She wasn't even hungry anymore; she just needed a distraction from looking at them.
