A Jori Story: We're Just Acting, Right?

You WHAT?

The drive to Cat's parents' lake house was quiet for the most part. The redhead kept waking up only to fall back asleep and mumbling incoherently in her slumber. Music was playing softly on the radio and Tori was lost in thought as she looked out the window.

The scene of them back in Tori's bedroom kept replaying in her mind and she just let herself wallow in the memory. All she could comprehend was the feel of Jade's laboured breaths against her lips and the look in her eye, something unfathomable. Just reminiscing made goosebumps ripple across the brunette's skin.

"Vega."

"Hm?"

Jade glanced at Tori, an eyebrow raised.

"I asked you to check if the boys are still following us."

Tori looked in the passenger side mirror and turned around to look through the rear window to make sure Beck's car was still on their tail. It was. She stretched a little and glanced in the rear view mirror to see Cat whispering things in her sleep and smiled to herself.

"How long til we get there?," she asked Jade as she watched the sun dip into the horizon.

"Maybe 15 minutes."

Tori sighed internally. A little longer of this torture and she could hopefully take out all her frustrations on Beck- if she could find it in her to kiss him for more than five minutes.

"What's going on in that pretty head, hm?"

Tori turned to Jade who had one hand on the steering wheel and the other carding her fingers through her black and green streaks. She swallowed.

"Nothing."

"You've always been a horrible liar, you know that right?"

Tori rolled her eyes and folded her arms into her chest. Jade grinned watching the brunette sulk and nudged her lightly in the arm.

"C'mon, Vega. What are you thinking about?"

"Well..."

"Well?"

Tori shifted in her seat. "Are we just not going to talk about it?"

"About what?"

"What happened... in my room earlier."

She swallowed as if getting the words out caused her great difficulty. She noticed Jade's grip tighten on the steering wheel and her heart raced faster still.

"What about it?"

"We almost kissed, Jade."

"But we didn't."

"But we almost did."

"Yeah, but we didn't do it."

"Jade, it wasn't even an accident we were like, about to do it til my phone-"

"Jesus Christ, Vega! We didn't though, did we? Can you fucking drop it? You're making such a big deal about a kiss that never even happ-"

"Yeah the big deal is that I wanted it to!"

It took Jade all the strength in her body to not hit the brakes and cause a crash at Tori's statement.

"You what? "

All the colour drained from the pair's faces when they realized that neither of them had spoken. They turned to the backseat to see Cat staring at them with eyes wide with shock and jaw hanging open. 

"Cat- Cat how much did you-"

"We're here!," Jade announced over Tori's question.

The brunette looked out of her window to see the double storey house overlooking a large lake and let herself be taken by the view of flowers growing in the garden and the overall coziness of the place. It looked so homey. Only when she heard Jade's door open then slam shut again was she shaken out of her reverie.
