It had been a day since Tori and Jade first ran lines together for their play. Today was to be their second rehearsal with Sikowitz after school and Tori was psyched. Jade on the other hand felt sort of...wonky.
Ever since they first ran lines together, the one thing that was clouding Jade's thoughts was how soft Tori's skin felt beneath her fingers, how Tori seemed like she was in a trance when Jade was touching her face. Ever so briefly, Jade left herself enjoy the fact that Tori hadn't flinched when Jade touched her.
She probably just liked the feel of the brunette's skin. Yeah, that was it. Odd, but the only reasonable explanation she could come up with. She was heading to her last class of the day with Sikowitz when she felt someone's shoulder knock into hers. She turned, ready to yell when she saw Tori and Beck.
"Hey, Nancy," Tori said, winking and nudging her.
Jade nearly smiled but rolled her eyes instead.
"Oh please, being married to you is already a torture while acting you don't need to remind me when we're not."
"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed today," Tori said, eyes narrowing.
"I'll show you wrong side of the bed you little-"
"Okay!," Beck cut in, pulling Tori away and putting his hands on her shoulders.
"Let's go to class. I can hear Sikowitz talking about his coconut milk-induced visions already."
They got to class and Tori took a seat a little ways away from Jade but still having the perfect view to look at her. She glanced at the raven-haired girl one last time before looking up at Sikowitz.
Her mind wandered as she listened to Sikowitz talk about different tropes and their importance to every form of art today. Her thoughts drifted and she found them craving because she couldn't get enough of Jade's fingers against her cheek.
"Tori!," she suddenly heard and snapped out of her little reverie.
"Hm?"
"Name a popular trope for the class."
Tori swallowed, racking her brain for all the different tropes she could think of when one appeared out of the blue.
"Enemies to lovers?"
Sikowitz nodded and Tori grinned at him. Jade turned around to glance at Tori that moment and the girls locked eyes. Something in Jade's eyes were asking, curious.Tori wanted to raise her brows to ask back when the raven-haired girl turned back to the front and the moment was gone.
The second class was over, Tori, Jade, Andre, Beck and the other side actors walked to the Black Box theater with Sikowitz to practise. This time, both girls weren't in their own heads so the lines were delivered with more emotion but less of the kind that Sikowitz was looking for.
What was supposed to come off loving and endearing now sounded sarcastic and irritated. At least they were delivered with a little more emotion than the monotonous mess that was the first rehearsal. Sikowitz frowned as he watched, hoping secretly that he wouldn't have to choose new actors for their roles. After a few rehearsals, Sikowitz called it off.
"Tori and Jade, please work on your love before rehearsal next week."
Everyone had left the theater immediately after and the only people lingering were Tori and Jade, both of whom were working up the courage to ask the other something. Tori walked over to Jade first, seeming as nonchalant as she could.
"Busy later?"
"Why?"
Tori looked at Jade, her face lighting up slightly. "Wanna run lines again?"
