Secret

Megan drove me to the hospital and we sat in the waiting room for what seemed like forever. Finally a nurse told us they would see me in an hour and a half. So, I decided to go in and see Dad.

"What are you doing here?" Dad asked, excited to see me.

"Oh we were just in town so we thought we'd stop by." I smiled.

"Yup. Just dropping in on you..." Megan said, looking at me disapprovingly.

"Well I'd love to chat but they just gave me some more pain killers and I'm getting pretty tired so I should probably sleep. See you soon Cadi."

"Okay. Bye Daddy." I kissed him on the cheek and followed Megan out into the hallway.

"Why didn't you tell him?"

"Look, he already has enough of his own problems, I don't want to worry him. I promise I'll tell him all about once he gets out of the hospital. But for now, can this just be our little secret?"
I felt bad about lying to him but it was for his own good.

"I guess so. But you better tell him when he gets out." Megan sighed.

"Acadia Ramsay, the doctors will see you now." The receptionist said, looking down at her clipboard.

"Wish me luck." I said to Megan as I followed a nurse down the hallway.
