Once I could finally bring myself to speaking, I realized I shouldn't say anything around Tristan anyway.

"I'll tell you in a bit." I said, subtly gesturing toward Tristan.

"Okay." Megan said with a small smile and a worried tone.

"Daddy are we there yet?" Tristan asked, kicking the back of Mike's seat.

"Almost kiddo." Mike said, looking at Tristan in the rear view mirror.

I looked out the window for a second and must have zoned out, because the next thing I knew, we were at the theatre.

Mike got out and helped Tristan out of his seat. Megan told him we'd meet them in there and we stood outside the doors for a moment.

"What happened?" Megan asked, turning back to look at me.

"My mother has Schizophrenia and Bipolar disorder and the doctor said it's hereditary and there's a 75% chance that I already have or will have one or both of them as well. And that means they can't put her in jail because she needs to be properly taken care of so they have to keep her in a mental hospital. And a mental hospital is a lot easier to escape from than jail. So she might come after me or my dad again." Once I found the right words, they all kinda just spilled out.

"Oh honey. That's terrible. I'm so sorry."

"So they want me to go get tests done tomorrow to see if I have it." I sighed. Everything has gone so downhill in the last two days.

"I can drive you in the morning if you want."

"Thanks Megan, that would be great. Can we just forget about this for now and go watch the movie?"

"For sure! Let's go find the boys."
