I woke up bright and early. Quickly getting ready, I rushed up the stairs, eager to learn more about my mom.

I reached the kitchen table and noticed a note.

"Morning Cadi,

Hope you slept well. Went to get breakfast with the boys, we're bringing you something home. Be back soon.

Luv yah, Dad."

I sighed and slumped down into a chair. It felt like he'd just keep making up excuses so he would never have to tell me about my mom. I had so many questions, so many thoughts.  It was beginning to feel like I'd never get the answers.

Sliding my phone out of my pocket, I texted my best friend, Brad. I asked him if he was busy later. I awaited a reply while playing with a little piece of my phone case that had broke last year.

"Family stuff til 5. Why? -Brad"

"Wanna come over for a bonfire? -Acadia"

"WILL THERE BE SMORES?! -Brad"

"Duh. What's a fire without SMORES? -Acadia"

"Count me in! -Brad"

Matt and Dad came through the door with take out bags in hand.

"What'd ya bring me?" I ran up to them excited for my food.

"Pancakes and bacon from Brenda's diner." Matt shrieked.

"Yes!" I yelled, snatching the bag and running to the table to eat it.

Brenda's diner is the best restaurant in all of Vancouver.  And the breakfast there is the best.

I finished eating and Matt left.

"So Daddy, you promised." I pleaded for information.

"Her name is Olivia. We met here in Van City, at a local pub that shut down years ago. We only dated for a month and she just disappeared. Nine months later I found you sitting on my doorstep. It was raining and she left a child, a newborn child on a doorstep! The nerve of that woman!" Dad spoke with a crack in his voice that made it obvious he didn't want to talk about it.

"in the rain?" I mumbled, taking in all the information from the story.

"She left the address to her house incase you ever wanted to find her. Feel free to stop by and see if she still lives there I'd you want." He handed me a piece of paper with an address on it.

I looked at the paper and then hugged him.

"I'll drive you there if you want but I'm going to stop a half a block away so she doesn't see me but I can still keep an eye on you."

"Would you Daddy?" I've never been so close to meeting her before.

**********

I got out of the car and walked a half a block til I got to tell right house. I was shaking because I was so nervous. I knocked on the door.

The same blonde from he picture answered the door. Well not the same blonde, you could tell she had aged a bit and she wasn't wearing any makeup right now,  but still the same person. I stared at her, speechless.

"Can I help you?" She asked, I finally got to hear her voice.

"In the rain?"  That was the only thing I could manage to say.

"Pardon me?" She asked, sharply.

"Olivia, I am your daughter." It was hard to say, but I got it out.

"Josh's kid? Do you have his skills? What's your name?"

"Yes. Yes. Acadia."

"Acadia? That's so beautiful. Darling, may I ask a favor?"

"What's that?"

"Sing to me?" She spoke in such a soft voice.

I began to sing a Marianas song to her without hesitation.
