(Mid-May 2021)
(Y/N POV)
Halston Sage's face gazed back at me from my computer screen. My husband of two years had posted a birthday wish to her on the company blog. I wasn't sure how I felt about it. I knew he had a relationship with her when they were on the set of Neighbors, and shortly before we got back together in 2019. I didn't understand why I felt a bit of jealousy rise up inside my chest.
I clicked on the post ready to comment, noticing that Rachel and Zac were already started a conversation.
Rachel: Oooooohhhh! You fucked up! I'm telling.
Zac: How did I fuck up? Who and what are you going to tell, Rachel?"
Rachel: Wait...do you not know? Oh, buddy, hope you like the guest house.
I had to chuckle at that comment. Rachel knew the outcome of this before Zac understood he did anything wrong.
Zac: Know what? Dylan lives in the guest house. What is Chriss allowing you to smoke over there?
I rolled my eyes at the utter fact that my husband was so clueless.
Rachel: Yeah, I guess I'll just go ahead and order you guys some bunk beds. What's your favorite primary color?
Zac: No, seriously, what the fuck are you smoking over there?
Rachel: We don't! Post sappy! Things! About women! Who aren't! Our wives!
Zac: That's sappy? Shit! She writes sappy shit to other men all the time...ie, Jesse and JC. Did I have a cow?
"Yes!" I spoke out loud, chuckling slightly.
Rachel: Yes! You didn't stay at the house for four days after JC's birthday. I remember because you sat on my couch and played video games with my husband the WHOLE time. Then looked at me on the fourth day and said, and I quote, "Do you think she got the message?"
It continued, but I couldn't read anymore. Zac didn't understand that a heart emoji actually hurt me more than it should. Maybe it was because I had always chosen him over everyone, while he chose himself and others over me.
I closed my laptop, deciding to head home for the night. To say I was upset was an understatement. We argued the second I walked into the house. The arguing actually carried on for a few nights. He tried to make it up to me days later, and we ended up having an amazing dinner, saw the most romantic movie, he even took me dancing. We did all of my favorite things.
It wasn't till after we spent the rest of the night having mind-blowing sex, that I realized that things had been off with us for a while. I laid there next to Zac, trying to catch my breath as all my thoughts began to take over. I examined every interaction between the two of us for the past month. Our emotions had been high lately, mostly on his side. I sighed glancing at him before looking back up at the ceiling.
"What are we doing?" I questioned, unsure if I understood the question myself.
I felt Zac turn his head towards me. "What do you mean?"
I sighed once more, turning on my side gazing down at him. "This. What is this that we are doing?"
Confusion riped across his face. "I just made love to my wife, so I'm not getting what you're asking."
"I'm not questioning this," I smiled. "I'm questioning all the extra traveling this past month, or the fact that you sold your home and bought a new one in Australia," I began to explain, trying to point out all the crazy, off the wall decisions he had made in a short amount of time.
