Chapter 1: Beginning

Your P.O.V.

Hey, there. My name is Y/n. I live in Central City where my family and friends are. I have my beautiful mom, Emile, my amazing step-dad, Andrew, my two younger sisters, Elizay and Kristina, and of course, you can't forget, my best friends.

I live with my number one best friend, Caitlyn. I have a normal, boring life. I work at a coffee shop, I come home to my best friend, and I have a crush on a guy that I've known since I moved here from (Your home town).

I want to save up money, so I can study to be a(n) (Your dream career). Of course, that's gonna take a while, but I have a lot of hope and excitement for my future.

Anyways, you may be wondering, "Why in the heck are we learning about you and not listening to a story?" Well, I'm here to tell that story. I just want you to know more about me. C'mon, you're not gonna listen to a story from a total stranger... Right?

It was Wednesday, December 11, 2013. I was sitting down on the couch watching my favorite show, while Caitlyn was getting ready for the big day. The day of the particle accelerator. The day science changed forever.

Don't get me wrong, I was excited. I just didn't show it as much as Caitlyn did.
"Please don't tell me you're wearing that for today." Caitlyn said as she stood in front of the television. I laughed, "What? I don't have a fiancé to impress." Caitlyn giggled, "You're too cute."

I quickly got up from the couch and examined what Caitlyn was wearing. "Dang, girl. You look smexy." I said, holding her dress out and feeling the texture of the fabric under my hands. "He's gonna say you're beautiful."
"Really?" She said, twirling in the dress.
"How can he not? You look gorgeous." I said, hugging my best friend.
"Thank you, Y/n," She replied, reciprocating the hug. She had a slight chuckle in her voice, "but you aren't going to impress Barry with your ripped jeans and white shirt."
I laughed, "You're right."

I walked towards my room, while Caitlyn looked for the car keys.
I found a casual, yet beautiful Navy Blue dress. It held my breast and waist, perfectly showing my curves and flowed down softly to my knees. I wore my white converse and added a light, cream colored cardigan. I put my hair up in a pony-tail and added my glasses to complete the look.

I walked out of my room ready for that day and looked for Caitlyn. "Caitlyn?" I searched the kitchen and turned to the dining room where she was sitting. "I'm ready, Cait." I said as I widened my arms to present my outfit. She looked up from her phone and smiled, "You look beautiful, Y/n... I mean it." I smiled and grabbed my purse. "Let's go before we're late. I have to meet Barry by the door." I said as I walked out of the apartment. "OOoooooHhh! Okayy!" Caitlyn said, jokingly as she locked the door and gave me the car keys.

I started the car and drove out of the drive way. Caitlyn and I were talking about the speech she was going to give, when randomly my phone rang. I read the I.D. 'Baby Bear🐻'. I answered and pressed the speaker button. "Hey, Barry. You're on speaker." There was a pause, "Hey Y/n/n, Are you ready for the particle accelerator, today?" I laughed, "Hell yeah, why wouldn't I be. It's only the greatest day in History!" I said looking at Caitlyn with a huge smile. "Exactly! I've been trying to explain that to Iris this whole time!" He said, laughing at who I thought would be Iris. "Oh, Iris is with you?" I said, with slight disappointment in my voice. But of course, oblivious Barry didn't notice.

I knew who Barry loved. I mean, I was his best friend. I had to know this stuff. So, I knew he didn't have the same feelings for me. I knew his heart belonged to Iris.
To be honest, I'm not even upset. She is the sweetest, kindest, and most courageous person I know. They would be perfect for each other.

"Yeah, she is. Hey, I was wondering, could Iris come with us?" He said, with hope in his voice. I looked at Caitlyn with a small frown and looked back on the road. "I don't know..." I laughed. "Totally, Stupid!"
I knew he was smiling on the other end of the phone, "Thanks, Y/n/n." He whispered, "I told you she was gonna say yes!" He rose his voice again, indicating he was talking back to me.
"Thanks, you're such an amazing friend, Y/n."

Ouch... My heart..

"Yeah, I know. Now hurry. I don't wanna be late. I'll meet you guys there."

I quickly hung up before any more words were said.

I'mma be honest, I'm a geek. A nerd. A smarty pants. Any word that can describe a genuis. That's me. Well, that's us. Barry and I. We've been friends since I moved here from (Your home town) during my Freshman year of High school. I learned enough English to understand what everyone was saying, but Barry still learned (Your language), so it could be easier for me to communicate with him. That's when I knew I wanted to be with him.

We finally arrived. I parked the car closest to the exit, so I could be the first one out when everything finished. Saying I'm anti-social, is the biggest understatement of the year.

Caitlyn went inside, while I waited outside for Barry and Iris. I was outside for 45 minutes, until it started pouring rain. I walked inside and waited for them there. It was so crowded. Everyone filling all the spaces. Iris finally drove there with Barry in the passenger seat. We found our place in the crowd where it would be easy to see the speakers. Barry and I were freaking out like children meeting their superheroes, while Iris was laughing at us and looking for something interesting in the crowd.

Caitlyn finally walked up the steps to greet everyone and thank them for coming. When she walked back down, she went to Dr. Harrison Wells. My hero. He whispered something in her ear and her face only portrayed fear and shock. She quickly walked away.

Dr. Wells, spoke on the Mic and said "I'm sorry for the inconvenience, Ladies and Gentlemen. We're having technical difficulties."
After about five minutes, Iris became bored and said, "Guys, I'm ready to get home. You can tell me how it turns out tomorrow."

"Okay, Iris. We'll see you tomorrow then." I said as I waved goodbye. She walked away to her car and drove away. After another 10 minutes, Barry and I were debating whether we should watch it in his lab or at home. "Your lab, bro. That way when we finish, we can investigate." I debated.

He smiled and said "Rock, Paper Scissors. Winners decides." I laughed, "Ready to lose?"

"Rock, Paper, Scissors, Shoot!"
"Rock, Paper, Scissors, Shoot!"

I opened my fist, my fingers all spread out portraying the paper and turned my eyes to see his yet, still closed fist.

"Lab it is!" He said as we walked to the exit.

He walked to my car and I followed. As we both entered into the car, he was talking about how he wanted to ask Iris to go out with him. Me, being his best friend, hyped him up.

I quickly drove to the lab and parked the car.
As we raced to his lab, Barry walked into the lab victoriously and turned on his small T.V. He changed the Channel to show the particle accelerator and we began watching.

It was still raining so Barry went to close the window. As I watched the particle accelerator on the news, I could hear the noise of chains moving as the rain slowly started to quiet down. I looked up from the T.V. and saw an explosion. My first thought was to protect Barry, so I turned and I ran towards him.

As I ran I could already see lightning circling around the chain and running down towards my love. He was in danger. I was too slow to save him from the touch, but I wasn't too slow to save him from the burn. I pushed him away from the chains, before they could do any more damage.

In the process, my arm got stuck in between the chains. I couldn't see that Barry had fallen towards the shelf furthest from us, but I could feel the electricity running through my veins. I was trying the pull my arm free as I screamed in pain, but I didn't realize that all the commotion brought another shelf to colapse over me.

All this pain over my body. I couldn't even catch my breath before closing my eyes and submitting myself to the darkness that called for me and submerged my mind and consciousness.
