Natalie's POV
As I rushed through the halls with the stone in hand, I could feel the pressure weighing down on me. I felt like I wasn't even moving, but I knew I was because the walls were flying past me.
The adrenaline took over my body and before I even realized I was standing there next to the gauntlet with the mind stone placed neatly inside.
Thank god.
And now here I am with the Soul Stone in hand.
"Before I fully load this thing, who the hell is gonna wear it?" I ask with a finger up to my communication unit.
"I will," Steve said without hesitation.
Typical hero.
"What did I say about doing stupid shit, Rogers?" Bucky snarked.
"Yeah, as much as I respect my elders, kindly shut up. Fangirl, you're the smartie here. Who do you think has the best chance at surviving that thing?" Stark said. I could practically hear the eye roll.
Did Tony Stark just call me a smartie? Wow, I'm honored.
"Well, no humans. I would think T'challa, but the absorbing suit trick is just a theory. That much power might now make it. Bruce did it before as the Hulk, but he almost lost his arm in the process. My best guess, either Wanda or Carol."
Before I got a reply I heard screams. I looked out a nearby window and saw that there were no screams; they were war cries. The battle had officially begun.
"Can anyone hear me? I need to get this glove on someone's hand before people start dying," I said, a little more aggressive this time due to panic.
For a brief moment, all I heard were gunshots, screams, and other various weapons.
This is all too real.
Why did I think it was a good idea to gain a relationship with these people? It was so much easier when they were on paper or on the screen, but now they're living breathing people.
Now I'm really watching people die.
I don't think I can be an Avenger anymore.
"Nattie?"
Bucky's voice knocked me out of my trace and back into what I can't believe is my reality.
"What?" I asked.
"Can you get the gauntlet to me?" Carol asked as I saw her take down the mother ship from outside the dome."Uh, yeah. I can try," my voice was shaking and anything but confident.
"Natalie, you can do this. We'll clear you a path," Steve said in a reassuring tone.
I took a deep breath and started my run out of the palace.
"Wait!" I female voice said over comms. "Let me do the snap or whatever."
"Talia, you're crazy. Absolutely not," Parker's voice cracked.
I thought for a minute. This could be the perfect plan.
No chance of anyone getting hurt because Talia is a Phoenix. She'll just come back to life. Of course, her memory will be lost temporarily, but memory loss seems to be a common thing with a common solution around here.
"No, no, that's actually genius. Where are you? Are you in the field?" I asked.
"No, I was with Vision. I'm getting him back on his feet. Eastside of the building," she replied.
