Steve's POV
Bucky and I ran out of the bar and back to the compound like our lives depended on it. For all, we know they do.
The second we opened the doors to the compound, we had a message from FRIDAY.
"Welcome back, Captain, Sergeant Barnes, your presence is being requested in the common area."
When Bucky and I rushed into the room, we noticed that everyone and I mean everyone was there waiting for us. Natalie was standing next to a whiteboard and everyone waited for us to sit down so that Natalie could begin whatever she was going to say.
"Good, you got here fast. I have a plan. Screw the secrets. We need all hands on deck," Natalie says and uncaps a marker.
"By you having a plan, does that mean..." I trailed off knowing she would know what I meant.
"I remember. I remember everything."
Natalie's POV (one hour prior)
I ran to my room and flopped onto my bed. I hated that I didn't know, but Nat was right. I can't just pick one of them and leave the other out to dry.
Bucky is amazing and kind and he just needs some help. He wants to outlive his trauma and I feel like I can help him with that. Maybe that is why I'm so drawn to him. That's not exactly a good thing, but you know.
Not to mention he's gorgeous.
I don't want to give Bucky any more heartache.
But Steve means a lot to me. I know that even though I don't remember everything, I feel like there is so much more emotion that I'm not getting. I already feel more for Steve now, and knowing that I don't even know our full story makes me certain that he should be the one I should pick.
Bucky came along as a test. A test to confuse me and make me realize that I really do love Steve and it's not just my 15-year-old obsession.
That seems so awful for Bucky though.
The truth is I made my decision a long time ago. Maybe since my birthday. I was just too scared to say it out loud. I'm too scared to hurt Bucky and damage the relationship I have with him. And the relationship he has with Steve.
I pulled out a sketchbook to look back on some old happy things that I do remember about Steve, but as I flipped through I saw so many drawings of him.
Sketches and poems and printed pictures stuck between the pages of the two of us. There was an entire notebook documenting everything about us laying under my bed and I didn't even know it.
As I flipped through pages I started to remember everything. I flipped to a page that had a card from Tony.
I hope you and Spangles enjoy ;)
-Tony
That's when I remember unpacking. I remember kissing. I remember every detail. I remember falling asleep.
I remember the dream.
I rip my phone out and text Steve and Bucky.
Emergency. Compound. Now.
"FRIDAY when Steve and Bucky get back tell them to meet me in the common area," I said and I get up off my bed.
"Of course, miss. Anything else?" the AI asked.
"I need to tell the team to meet me there as well in five minutes. I'm going to get everything ready."
"Of course, miss."
