Reaching the place, I lift my arm slamming my elbow into the doorknob. It breaks the locking mechanism as I push it forward. The burn marks from the steam have burned straight through some of the metal.
I'm replacing it anyway, taking a deep breath as I look around the robotics shop. A lot of intricate things that hold no value to me as of now... nothing extremely dangerous but at least clear signs of prosthetics on display.
Further, into the shop, I find a few arms on display. One a lot more armored showing clearly that it is a hell of a lot more durable than the scrap attached to me. The other is a hand that can swap over to create a place for something else.
A little pocket in the arm where you could store the hand part and attach something else to the wrist. The other is just the bare basics of a prosthetic, for general purpose and it doesn't go much beyond that.
I then grab a bag from under the counter, stuffing all three of them inside I sling it over my shoulders. Taking a deep breath of the clean air before putting the mask back on, a creak from the door then alerts me.
Dropping down into a crouched position, watching from around the counter as both a young woman and a man significantly older quietly enter.
"Oh no," she gasps, with a frowned expression turns to him, "We have to call the enforcers."
He then looks around at first, "It doesn't seem they got what they came for," then walking around to inspect his merchandise, "Nothing has been touched, the other doors are still locked..."
"Maybe they are still here."
There isn't a way for me to get out. I could break through the glass panes looking into the shop but that would just piss them off more. I got what I wanted, now I need to leave. Lifting myself to my feet, the girl loses color in her face as she cowers behind the man.
With widened eyes, he lifts his hands, "Woah there," then putting himself in front of the girl, "Take what you want, we don't want any trouble."
I tilt my head slowly as if to intimidate them further into not thinking of playing the hero. I don't want to kill any one of them, much less hurt them. I slowly lift my hand to the strap of the bag, gesturing that I already got what I wanted.
"You can leave, right?"
"Dad..." she quivers behind him.
"Hush," then back at me, "My hands are here."
Moving my hands slowly, lifting my jacket to find a pouch with a small amount of coins (cogs), barely enough to cover anything I took but at least they could fix the door without spending anything.
I place it on one of the racks as I deepen my voice, "On your knees, shut your eyes."
"N-no, please wait don't-" she panics as her father tries to calm her.
"Do as he says."
She nods, tears streaming down her face as they both are on their knees.
"Cross your legs, arms folded in front of you. Keep your eyes shut," they comply as I then turn to leave only to meet an enforcer with a weapon trained to my face.
"Don't you move," she commands me.
Ah fuck, why'd it have to be her of all people still shadowing me?
"Are you ready to take the shot?" I ask, the distance between us means no time to dodge the bullet and just as easy to take that gun from her, and pin her to the ground.
The two behind me has lifted themselves, I could hear their exhales of relief as they bring themselves to their feet.
Kirraman's eyes transfer to them for a moment, "Sound the alarm-"
I take the moment to close the distance, a loud bang as I knock the weapon to the side. Earning a knee in my gut I continue to disarm her. Pushing her back into the wall with my arm. Tossing the riffle out the door. Bringing her hands together lifting them above her as the other keeps her pinned.
An icy glare searched for my eyes behind the mask. I take a deep breath, still ignoring the sharp stinging pain in my waist. Her eyes wandering trying to find something to use, only for me to tighten my grip forcing her to come to terms with not being able to move.
That shot must've alerted them.
"You are a dead man," she states as the roars of their boots on the stone grow ever closer.
"And what about you, little shadow?" I counter, her eyes widening slightly. Then pulling her off of the wall, forcing her arms behind her back I push her towards the shop owners.
Kicking the door back into the room, I rest my hand against my waist as I run away from the sounds of their boots. I reach an overlook, a few buildings below. I take a deep breath as I stem the bleeding for a moment.
Tearing a cloth from my cloak and wrapped it around my waist. Glancing backward as she has her gun trained to me.
"There is nowhere else to go," warning me off, "I knew I shouldn't have trusted you," then as I look back at the buildings below, "That drop will kill you."
Then with a sigh, I turn around, resting my behind against the barrier between this road and the fall.
"Impressive, though I'd rather wish you were not. If anything I should have killed you but," I groan as the pain quickly becomes more and more impossible to ignore, my adrenaline is fading quickly, "my issue is not with you folk topside."
"I can't ignore your crimes," her stance even sturdier.
I then nod, "Luckily I am already a walking corpse," then falling backward, I spin around mid-air reaching for the side of the roof.
I grab it for a moment only for my arm to be torn apart by it. Pulling it in half as I continue to fall to the ground below. Though slowing a bit of the fall, I land on my feet into a roll. My mask fell off during the fall, as I reach for it as a bullet wards me off.
Cursing myself as I turn around back into a sprint heading out of this place.
I reach the bridge with ease and no enforcers to stop me. I don't stop running despite being out of breath, I need to get back to him so that he can get this damned bullet out of me and replace this junk.
