Trying to keep up, I got caught behind due to being stopped by thugs. I almost considered tossing the mask aside just for this. I finally reach the area where I saw the flare only to be stopped on the way up.

"Back off Firelight," I warn one of them.

Stepping closer, "Come with me, Ekko asked to take you with us."

"What about them?"

"They will be collected as well," then gesturing to the hoverboard.

I nod slowly as he tosses me one, I step on it as it starts to whirr. Guess it came down to it after all.

I cross my arms as I tilt my head at Ekko sitting on his chair, "Been spying on us have you?"

"Have to, if not you would have been dead if you stepped up there. Jinx wouldn't have even hesitated to kill you," he then sighs, "Besides, nobody even knows you are alive, does Vi? Considering people are coming back from the dead it shouldn't be that hard."

"Not a word about me."

He shakes his head, "Are you going to hide behind masks? Instead of acknowledging yourself?"

I don't answer.

"Then suffer in silence," I shake my head, as I return to a secluded corner.

Crossing my arms, as batman brings in Vi in front of Ekko. He gestures with his head for him to leave as I stay in place.

"You shy? Or just ugly?" she really has to keep asking if people with masks look ugly.

He then lifts himself to his feet, stopping in front of her, then looking at me he started to remove his mask and hood.

Ekko then remarks, "You look good for a dead girl."

She jolts upward in surprise, "Ekko?"

He then turns to reveal something fixed to his side, he then asks, "What do you know about this?" A blue crystal spins inside, emanating a sharp light.

"Nothing. What the hell is all this about?"

He tilts his head to the side, pursing his lips, "What were you doing with Jinx?"

She lifts herself, "Her name is Powder. And I just found her when you and your goons showed up. It's me Vi. The same person  who used to take you down to the junk heap and hose you down when you got covered in grease."

He then sighs, averting his gaze, "That was a long time ago," then back at her, "People change."

With an annoyed tone, "Yeah. I'm getting that."

He then asks, "Are you working for Silco?"

She scoffs, then seriously offended, "Fuck. You.

Pressing against his chest, "I-I thought you were dead," he stammers, "Now you show up with a Piltie and give her a tour of the Lanes?"

"You were following us? Why didn't you say something?

Then pointing at her, "I didn't know if I could trust you."

"So... so you just come out swinging?"

He counters just as quickly, "Gee, I wonder who I learned that from?"

"Ah, well you shoulda learned more. You still punch like a little boy."

Then countering again, "And you still block with your face!"

She scoffs, leading into a sigh, "I remember when you wouldn't stand up to me," she then walks forward wrapping her arms around him into a tight hug, I coulda swear she was tied up a few moments ago.

"I missed you, little man."

Ekko then asks, "How long have you had those off?

She then returns with a question, "How long have you been whining?"

He then pulls her into a tighter embrace. I then disappear, having seen enough I already decided that this would be better for me. I don't think I am willing to bear with what comes next, willing to bear with all those feelings I buried in the ground.

Yeah... I am happy she didn't die... but then again I know the person standing in front of her isn't (Y/N). Everyone changed, some of us in better ways than others. I did my part... I wasn't really needed throughout that so I guess it is time to head home.

As I try to head to the exit, footsteps echoing closer, I stop and turn for a moment only to see Vi with a pissed expression. Her hand gripping around my left shoulder, I wince at her tight grip as she lifts her hand to my mask.

I don't do any effort to stop her, pulling it away she recoils. Slowly shaking her head, with a look of betrayal, so much so that I'd wish I ran away quickly.

"(Y/N)...?"

"So he went and told you," I then turn to her with a furrowed brow, "Hey... Vi."

"I don't understand... why would you not tell me?"

I twist my mouth to the sides, then lift my shoulders, "Didn't want to be seen like this-"

"That doesn't matter-"

"I didn't," I sigh, "People change, and sometimes it is not necessarily better. You are the last person I wanted to see... well... this."

Then closing the distance into a tight hug. Standing still as I let her hug me, still not sure if I should embrace her or not. It all feels so terribly out of place, that I shouldn't be allowed to have this much.

But then again, I am being hard on myself.

Finally caving in, I tuck my arms under her's. Pulling her closer into a tight hug, staring emptily at the floor as I shut my eyes. Despite all this, despite everything... I am relieved, despite mourning you.
