We won, the cost far greater than I had wished. Her body... along with the others has already been gathered and taken back to our hideout... to prepare some sort of burial. Sitting alone, with my head between my shoulders as my tears still stain the floor.
"She died because of you!"
"Woah!" two voices start to clash, "She knew what she was getting into, how were we supposed to know that Jinx was going to be there?!"
"She died because of him! Does that not matter," then lifting my head to see Rael stop El, "Fucking say something, why won't you!?"
I lift my shoulders weakly, "Yeah... she died because of Jinx," averting my gaze, his boots hit against the floor as Rael grunts, then looking back only to feel a fist against my face, knocking me off the chair.
"That is all you have to say!?"
Then rubbing the spit from my lips, "Want me to say sorry to her?" then lifting myself to my feet, then hitting him back, "Haven't you got that in your head that I cared for her just as much!?"
"So much that you let her die!? Knowing that you would never choose her!" he tries to hit me again, I duck under it and swing right back hitting him in the jaw.
"She is dead El! Nothing we do will bring her back," then clenching my fist, "I couldn't do anything to save her."
"Your revenge got her, and many others killed."
Then looking at him with a glare, "Why were we there? To fight a war, not for revenge. I got mine as I fought this war, I won't carry the weight of hundreds when they were the ones willing to fight where others would hide!"
"Fuck you!"
I nod, "Leave. Take everyone that feels the same way with you," I then put the chair back on its legs.
"Here I thought you were a brother."
Watching him with a glare, "You blame me for something out of my hands..."
He left that day, along with more than half of our people. They realized that this isn't for them, despite us being successful, I am to blame for their decisions. I wonder if Vander felt like this? So distraught after the people you led abandoned you.
It's not my fault, they knew what they were signing on for.
Though that night, it wasn't just our attack. Something else, a rocket aimed at the Council's tower. Sparking the oncoming war, and the divide between Piltover and the Undercity.
