Walking over the bridge, trying to reach that point. It feels off, the mist is thick and it feels like only bad things are in store for us. Watching the two of them lead, Vi is just to my side her hands dug deep into her pockets.
I peer at her through the mask, there wasn't much to say but we all had a lot on our minds. Besides... I won't be staying for long. I am afraid that everything I did, everything I worked for would just fade away because I want to be at her side.
I don't even belong there, just dreams and memories all of them... long forgotten.
Vi stops suddenly, I almost immediately come to a halt, all three of us glancing at her.
Ekko then asks, "Vi?"
She then says with a worried expression, "I can't leave her again."
"You can't change her," he adds.
"I have to try-"
Then interrupting her, "And what if trying leads to everything we warned you about? She is with Silco. Powder is..."
"I have to, please just understand that much," clenching her fists.
Ekko then scoffs, stepping closer to her, "Don't get yourself killed.
Vi chuckles as the two of them hug each other, "No promises," I then notice her lingering gaze on Caitlyn, feeling a hole in my heart as I clench my fists.
She then steps past me as the two of them break apart to wrap her arms around her, "It's been real, Cupcake. Thanks. For everything," in their silence the hug grows tighter.
Then looking at me with a pained expression, I only shake my head.
"No goodbyes, not today," then looking at those two.
"What?" Vi looks confused.
"You heard me," then looking at the other two, "This is my goodbye, my people don't plan on waiting for me forever and I don't want them going in on their own."
Ekko twists his mouth to the side, "Here I thought you were going to make sure she was going to keep safe."
I shake my head, "We both know that I can't do that even if I wanted to," then lifting his hand, I grab onto it he nods once, "Give them hell, I would wish the same for you but if this is the last time, I'll miss you."
I nod, then pull the mask off, "I don't plan on dying just yet anymore."
"Change of heart?" he chuckles, "Then come back alive."
I nod, pulling my closer he pats my back as I do the same. Then pulling away, I look at Caitlyn for a moment over my shadow. Wondering whether or not there is a point to say anything to her, but the time spent together must amount to something.
Holding my mask at the edge I hand it over to her, "Something to remember me by, probably won't need it after tonight. Sick of hiding anyway."
"This means you are planning on disappearing."
I shake my head, "My fight isn't with your people, but with them down there," I glance over my shoulder past Vi, "Maybe we will meet someday."
Shaking her head, "I already have the other one," she states, I nod in response.
I nod slowly, then push the mask back to my face. Lifting my hand into a wave as I don't wait for her goodbye. Walking with clenched fists as I hear Vi close behind me. We walk for a moment longer, a comforting silence only to be broken moments later.
"Why'd you come with me?"
"Didn't do it for you," I state, "Though if you want me to tag along to make sure you don't get hurt, it wouldn't hurt asking... but we both know what will happen if I see her."
"Give her a chance."
I shake my head, "I gave her a chance, she killed my people once when I thought I could reason with her."
"I am her sister, damnit! Please just... please give her a chance for me?"
Clenching my jaw, "One chance. Last chance, if she so much as breaks it once... if I even see a slight chance of her turning against us I will send her to where she belongs. Jinx needs to die, if you can bring Powder back... then and only then will I stop hunting her."
"Then," I look at her one more time, taking a slight step closer, "Will you be leaving for good?"
I shake my head, "The Revenants are planning on hitting them where it hurts. If we find Silco he is as good as dead. I can guarantee we will find Jinx in that mess - so how about it? Want to join us?"
The corner of her mouth arches upwards, "So I have to convince them to let me handle Jinx?"
"They will listen to me."
Then after a deep breath, "Thank you, I really appreciate it. We lost everyone... I don't want to lose her again."
I nod.
Then out of the silence, "You as well, (Y/N). I don't want to lose you either, promise me that you won't get yourself killed out there."
"Would you do the same for me?" I return the promise, then chuckle as she stays silent, "It wouldn't be fair for me to stay alive if you leave me all alone again."
"You have the Revenants right?"
I nod, "Yeah... I have them but... it isn't the same as having you back."
She stops in place, opening her mouth to speak only to hear a gunshot in the distance. We both drop the conversation as we transition from a walk into a sprint. Then moments later a massive explosion covered the entire bridge.
She instantly dashes towards Caitlyn who was on the floor as I hover over Ekko, "You better not be fucking dead," I pull the bullet out of his chest armor, realizing he is still breathing I lift myself with a sigh of relief.
Lifting myself I turn back to see Caitlyn's arm around Vi, I step forward only to realize they are frozen in place. Shots echo off as the two of them jump to the side, only to reveal Jinx with her gun aiming down the way.
My shoulder jolts backward as I lift my hand, feeling my strength disappear from my leg as I drop to the floor. Pain pulsating from my leg and shoulder, as I gasp for breath exclaiming sharply as I lift myself to my knees.
My arm broke due to the impact of some of the rounds. I can't even move it if I tried. My one arm is numb with pain as the other dangles, I lift myself with my legs as I feel a hand lift me by my cloak, then an arm around my waist as I am being led deeper into the upper city.
We turn a corner only for an explosion to go off yet again.
My eyes wide open, "Ekko... wait we have to-"
Vi pull me back, pushing me to the ground, "You can't-"
"We can't leave him to die!" I try to move past her as Enforcers flood the streets on their way to the scene.
We can't... we can't just leave him there...
