I feel tired these days as if there wasn't much keeping me going. That every day never showed any promise, that we were perpetually moving backward and it is really starting to show in our moral.
Faces that used to smile, now dead serious. We have been hoarding, hoarding weapons for the past two days trying our best to get everything started... I mean we have to at some point.
Some of us running supply runs, meeting up with the Firelights to tell them what to expect. Telling them about the worst to come and all information we may have - at this stage, it wouldn't hurt to have them on our side but there isn't much they would do for us.
Lifting my feet up to the table, leaning back into the chair as I shut my eyes tightly.
Feeling a tap on my leg, I open one eye, "Yeah?"
Rael then crosses his arms, "We let over twenty people go about their own way. The rest of the hideouts are being shifted into smaller hideouts for the sake of staying for the night if we really need to. All of our people will be meeting us here in a week or so."
I nod, "Then we should keep busy till then," I then notice a blinking light and a vibration in my chest, pulling out a small device I then notice that this is in the under-city, "Do me a favor, will you Rael?"
He nods, "Anything."
"Take my place till I come back. Okay?"
"Something happening?"
"I think something will happen, yeah," then throwing my feet off the table, I jump to my feet, "Something that might just help us take a step in the right direction. Tell our enforcer contacts to stay away from any and all hideouts till we make contact."
He nods, "Taking all the stops?"
"Dunno who we can trust these days," I state, then glancing over the distance, I spot Cal already getting ready with a group of people, El joins up with them a moment later.
I nod to myself, turning in place to leave through one of our backdoors.
Fixing my cloak over my jacket, pulling the hood over as I put the mask back on. Walking through what feels like an endless maze, I reach a metal sheet that I kick open and climb out of like a sewer rat.
Kicking it back with the side of my foot, I clench my fists as I head straight towards the signal. I wonder why she would be in the undercity? Got too big for her shoes maybe... though it is dangerous and people can spot an enforcer from a mile away.
Reaching a busy street, someone bumps into me.
I only glance at him before he wanted to say something, then turning to him fully he shakes his head with a sneer. Walking away as he grumbles to himself, damn people just dying for a fight. It's not the time though.
Getting close to a stall, I spot her sitting next to someone. With a narrowed gaze I step closer realizing that she spotted me moving closer.
Dropping down in one of the seats, "See you made a friend, a reason why you used your SOS if you have someone showing you around?"
"You said I should have used it unless you want to continue being useless."
I lift my shoulders, then as he turns around I lift my hand, "None for me big guy."
"Who is this guy?" the voice very familiar, making my heart both soar and then drop into my shoes, then looking at me as she stuffs her face, "Nice mask, make it yourself?"
Ignoring her comment, "Where'd you find her?" I look at Caitlyn.
"Why does it matter?" Vi asks.
"Because you are supposed to be dead," I grind my teeth, terribly conflicted, my heart brimming with both joy and sorrow, dying to just scream that it is me but too scared to show her that I am... what I am.
"Stillwater prison," Caitlyn states, "Listen, are you going to help or not?" a glare locked onto me.
I lift my shoulders, "It looks you like you already got some help, Shadow-"
"Shadow?" Vi snorts with a chuckle, continuing to stuff her face.
"But I'll stay as long as I can. You did ask for me, it would be in terrible taste to just disappear."
Vi shoots a quick glare at me before returning back to her food.
"You don't actually know anything, do you?" she looks at Vi with an annoyed expression.
Vi finishes the bowl, drinking up all the fluids as she wipes her mouth, "Ah, better than I remember," Jericho, then grabs the bowl and drops down a piece of paper.
Vi glances back at her, then lifts herself from the stall as she puts it in her jacket.
"Hmm," Caitlyn scoffs as she follows her.
Then starting with a sigh, "So the dead do come back," pushing myself off the counter, I follow them closely.
We reach a bridge overlooking the last drop. I could tell she was pissed, that the place that we all thought to be home was turned into what it is now. I watch her face as I know that expression all too well.
I hate what they have done to it.
Caitlyn remarks, "Well that place does look like it has bodies buried in the basement."
Her grip on the railing tightens, she turns to her with a scowl, "You don't know anything," then pushes past her.
I then remark, "A lot of things changed since you disappeared. I thought you would have at least understood that much."
"Don't talk as if you know anything about that place," she warns me, I could tell that she would hit me right now, at least... some people didn't change.
"A brutal awakening," I sigh to myself.
Then stepping back in alarm as she looks up at me with those anger-filled eyes, "What are you even doing here? Just following us? Or is it because you made a lil promise that you'd take care of our little enforcer over here?"
"You two-"
"There a reason you want me gone? Haven't done anything to merit that response. Besides I am here to help her, I couldn't give a shit about you."
"Oh," she chuckles, "You are starting to piss me off."
"It's not hard getting you're a little hot-headed," I see her fists clench, "Then again, you always talked with your fists."
"Take off the mask, who are you?" then one step closer, "Acting like you know everything must mean you were there back then. You knew me, must mean you knew Vander. Tell me? Why did it come to this... did you let it happen? Or just terrified and let them walk all over you."
Biting down on my tongue.
"You aren't worth shit. Are you?"
"I am just like you, a walking corpse."
